Lexmark beats billion mark in second quarter

Lexmark’s second quarter sales climbed 14% year-on-year to US$1.03 billion. The imaging and printing solutions vendor’s profits soared fivefold to US$85m compared to the previous year. Second quarter printing solutions and services division (PSSD) sales were up 20% year-on-year at US$752m. Imaging solutions division (ISD) sales slipped 2% to US$275m. Read full story

Second quarter sales climb at Ingram Micro

Global distribution giant Ingram Micro has announced second quarter sales up 24% year-on-year at US$8.16 billion. For the quarter ending July 3rd 2010, after-tax profits more than doubled to hit US$67.7m – compared to US$25.3m a year earlier. Sales in EMEA were up 18% year-on-year at US$2.37 billion with operating profits of US$22.3m. Read full story

VIP adds KFA2 to portfolio

UK-based distributor VIP Computer Centre has added graphics card vendor KFA2 to its vendor portfolio. KFA2 and VIP will look to target the growing specialist market for high-end graphics cards. KFA2 offers Nvidia Geforce cards and the vendor’s range consists of overclcocked cards as standard. Read full story

20:20 Mobile seals Starlink deal in Qatar

European mobile phone distributor 20:20 Mobile has struck a deal with Qatar-based Starlink. Under the terms of the agreement, 20:20 Mobile will provide services for Starlink’s new in-store mobile phone recycling service. The recycling scheme, which will be launched in Starlink’s Qatar stores, will offer customers the chance to trade in out-of-use handsets for a new device. Read full story

EMEA PC market recovery continues

Research house IDC’s latest EMEA data points to a continued recovery in the region’s PC market. IDC reckons that second quarter sales were up 21.1% year-on-year with almost 24 million PCs shipped. According to IDC, the market exceeded expectations in both the commercial and consumer segments. Read full feature
