Dixons Carphone upbeat on UK performance

European retail giant Dixons Carphone has posted first half sales of £5.02 billion (US$7.86 billion) for the six month period from May to October 2014 – a pro forma increase of 5%. After-tax profits came in at £52m (US$81.4m) – a profit margin of 1.03%. Dixons Carphone reckons that its UK and Ireland operation has put in a ‘barnstorming’ performance in the last six months. The share-based merger of Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse took place in early August 2014. Read full story
