Server sales growth in Russia

The latest update from research house CONTEXT claims that Russia’s unit sales of x86 servers through distribution were up 13% year-on-year in the first four months of 2012. This compares favourably to the Western European situation, where CONTEXT reports that unit sales through distribution slipped 9% year-on-year in the same period. Read full story

PC markets remain strong in Russia & CIS

Research from GfK claims that notebook sales remain one of the major growth drivers of the Russian IT market. First quarter 2012 notebook sales witnessed a double digit year-on-year increase in unit terms. Despite this growth, GfK claimed that sales of notebooks at price points above US$800 declined for the second consecutive quarter. Read full story

Double digit growth forecast for Ukraine

Research house PMR reckons that the Ukrainian IT market will continue to record double digit growth rates in 2012 and 2013. The market has recovered after a sharp decline experienced in 2009, but future growth potential remains tied to the macroeconomic and political situation inside the country. PMR estimates that the Ukrainian IT market was up 18.1% year-on-year in 2011 at US$1.63 billion. Read full story

Tablet PC sales have made a strong impact on the Russia and CIS IT market during the last two years according to research house GfK. Data released by GfK claims that Russia and CIS tablet sales were up eightfold year-on-year in unit terms during the first quarter of 2012. GfK offers MENA monitor insight

Research house GfK reckons that premium products could help the ailing PC monitor segment recover in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. GfK claims that increased sales of notebooks and tablets since the start of 2012 have impacted sales of desktop PCs, meaning that monitor sales have decreased in some markets, most notably in Morocco and the UAE.
