Europe’s tablet trends revealed

Research firm Context reckons that appetite for tablet PCs is starting to climb, with an increasing number of buyers looking beyond Apple products and considering other brands. The research, conducted in partnership with CCS Insight, showed tablet products such as the Asus Eee Transformer and Acer Iconia Tab starting to make an impression in the overall market landscape. Dixons announces interim results

Dixons Retail has revealed its interim results for the six months ending 15th October 2011. The European retailer announced that underlying group sales were up 1% at US$5.12 billion. Overall gross margins for the company were down 0.6%, but there was an improvement in the UK and Ireland gross margin of 0.2%. Dixons made an underlying pre-tax loss of US$39.4m for the six months. Distribution giant Tech Data Europe hopes to carve itself a role in the cloud channel with the launch of TDCloud, a programme that will provide resellers with access to a range of cloud-enabling solutions and services from leading vendors. Ingram Micro warns on soft European demand

Global distribution giant Ingram Micro has issued an earnings update for the quarter ending October 1st 2011. Ingram Micro’s third quarter sales are expected to hit US$8.9 billion in line with the company’s expectations. Earnings have been impacted by soft demand in Europe, particularly in consumer segments, which created a more competitive environment, according to Ingram Micro. Read full story
