by Stuart Wilson, Wednesday 12 March 2008

Hardware giant Acer continues to get up close and personal with its Middle East channel partners. The vendor, which holds a strong position in the region’s notebook market, has reinforced its commitment to a channel-led business model during a partner meeting in Qatar.

During the channel get-together Acer executives highlighted the vital role that channel partners play in making Acer’s products available to customers in Qatar.

“The IT sector in Qatar is growing at a tremendous rate, and Acer is keen to help fuel that growth,” said Krishna Murthy, deputy managing director Acer Middle East and Africa. “Acer understands that in order to meet the demands of this growing market, the channel partners need to be empowered, facilitating their growth is instrumental for our continued success.”

“Acer’s dynamic channel business model encourages partners to be pro-active and, with their valued help, we aim to capture a significant proportion of this growing IT market,” added Murthy.

At the meet, senior Acer executives updated channel partners on a variety of topics including the product roadmap and the vendor’s 2008 strategy.

“The channel has to play a key and pro-active role if we are to meet the constant demands of the country’s IT industry, ” said Satya Rangadham, GCC retail sales manager at Acer. “We are committed to supporting our channel, our business model has proven very successful for us, and we will keep our partners informed and help them to grow.”

Acer’s channel partners repsonded positively to new reward schemes and annual loyalty programme that were introduced for 2008, according to the vendor.
