MERA Monthly Monitor goes live

The MERA Monthly Monitor is based on information supplied by the organisation’s members, providing valuable market intelligence. Each monthly report also offers a detailed commentary highlighting the major market developments and business trends at both a vendor and retailer level.

The first report for working month June 2009 revealed a significant discord in the market, with vendors significantly more positive on the short-term business prospects than retailers.

Both groups were asked how confident they were about the business prospects for the Middle East ICT and CE channel during the next three months on a scale of 1 to 10 (where 1 is extremely worried and 10 is extremely confident). The average score recorded by vendors was 6.33 compared to just 4.86 for retailers.

The MERA Monthly Monitor also revealed that retailers were more satisfied with sales volumes during June 2009 than vendors. Price erosion during June 2009 was as expected for both groups.

MERA was set up in conjunction with Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) MEA, the region’s premier event for the retail channel. The organisation also holds an annual awards evening, recognising excellence in the region’s retail channel.
