Kensington eyes channel expansion in APAC

by Stuart Wilson, Wednesday 9 October 2013

Accessories brand Kensington will accelerate it Asia Pacific (APAC) channel expansion through its participation at DISTREE APAC in Singapore next month. DISTREE APAC, a three-day channel development event, brings together senior buyers and executives from the region’s leading volume ICT and consumer electronics (CE) e-tailers, retailers and distributors for pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with participating brands.

Martin Lam, sales and marketing director Asia Pacific at Kensington, said: “We will use the event to evaluate potential distribution partners and retail channel partners to expand our sales and market coverage in APAC.”

“Kensington will showcase a range of physical security locks, trackballs and mice, plus ingenious accessories for use on laptops, desktops, smartphones and tablets to enhance user experiences and productivity,” he added.

Kensington’s APAC channel business has been growing steadily during the last 12 months. The company’s products have received numerous design awards. The vendor has seen continued growth in online shopping and developing strong relationships with major e-tailers has become increasingly important.

“We believe countries such as India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and channels such as e-tail and retail represent the greatest opportunity for growth for our company in APAC,” explained Lam.

“We don’t have a structured channel programme yet but we will work with channel partners to formulate the channel programmes needed to grow the business together,” he continued. “We will offer marketing funds, demonstration samples, marketing collateral and product training to our distributors and retailers.”

Kensington plans to accelerate its growth rate in the APAC region by emphasising its product quality and position as a supplier of unique and premium computer security and mobile accessories. This could be an important differentiator for Kensington in a competitive region where low quality and non-branded products are also competing for market share.

“Kensington is channel-friendly as we are transparent and always try to provide our best support to our channel partners. Our go-to-market approach is to search for business partners who are willing to invest and grow with us in the long term. We hope we will be able to identify these business partners at DISTREE APAC,” he added.
