Rhiem strengthens e-commerce services

by Stuart Wilson, Monday 7 December 2009

Europe-based fulfillment services provider Rhiem is ready to showcase its e-commerce expertise to technology vendors attending DISTREE XXL 2010. 500-strong Rhiem offers a full range of services to hardware and software vendors including printing, packaging, warehousing, shipping and reverse logistics, offering manufacturers the ability to build and develop sales channels across the continent quickly and efficiently.

Thorsten Voigt, director business development and sales at Rhiem, said: “Rhiem works across Europe with some 80 technology suppliers including major brands such as Apple and Logitech. Using our services makes sense for many companies as it allows them to focus on their core competencies – be that software or hardware development and sales and marketing.”

Rhiem offers advantages to vendors from around the world that are looking to develop their business in Europe. “For a small vendor that has been successful in North America, we can offer them the entire platform needed to enter the European market,” said Voigt.

“We’re specialised in IT and consumer electronics products because they tend to have a short lifecycle,” he added. “They require a business model that enables manufacturers to get their products to market quickly. For vendors from the Far East, we allow them to fly in their products and we take care of the packaging in Europe resulting in a much quicker time to market.”

Rhiem is keen to explain the benefits of its expanded e-commerce enablement services for vendors at DISTREE XXL. The company claims that many companies have underestimated the complexity of European e-commerce. Transactions have to be secure, shops have to offer a wide range of currencies and payment methods and in terms of international commerce, local conditions and tax regulations must be observed, especially with regard to VAT.

Managing director Dr Stefan Rhiem said: “With our e-commerce service, we offer companies an uncomplicated, cost-effective way of opening a sales channel. They are able to approach their customers directly and at the same time gather data that can be of enormous importance for marketing purposes. The way into electronic commerce was never simpler.”

With the Rhiem approach, ‘Buy Now’ buttons are simply added to online product catalogues with the actual shopping cart running on Rhiem’s secured server. When the customer clicks on the buy button, he or she is seamlessly redirected to the Rhiem system.

Top channel service providers from across the EMEA region are attending DISTREE XXL 2010, the premier event for the regional ICT and CE channel, from February 8-11th in Monaco.

DISTREE XXL gathers 400-plus senior executives from EMEA’s Information Communications Technologies (ICT) & Consumer Electronics (CE) volume distribution channel.

During the course of the three-day event, delegates take part in thousands of pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with hundreds of vendors. Each year, hundreds of new distribution agreements are struck across EMEA as a result of business relationships initiated at DISTREE XXL.

DISTREE XXL 2010 will also build on successful initiatives launched at last year’s sold out event including a regional awards ceremony. The ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2010 Awards’ will include more than a dozen awards handed out to vendors and distributors from across the region. www.distree.com/xxl
