The shortlist of vendor nominees for the ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2010 Awards’ has been announced. The awards, which are held on February 10th in Monaco in conjunction with DISTREE XXL, were successfully launched in 2009. Based on a transparent and open voting system, the five nominees in each of the 7 vendor categories now go forward to a live electronic voting session at the ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2010 Awards’ Gala Dinner.

“The nominations are the first step in the awards and all of the companies that have been nominated should be congratulated,” said Farouk Hemraj, director at the EMEA Channel Academy.

“Hundreds of distributors take part in the nomination process, which is used to identify the top five companies in the running for each award,” he added. “We believe that awards should be as open and transparent as possible and this is why the eventual winner is decided by a live electronic vote at the Gala Dinner.”

Approximately 800 senior channel executives from across the EMEA region are expected to attend the Gala Dinner. During the evening, distributors will vote live for their preferred vendor candidates by product category. Senior vendor executives will in turn vote for their preferred distributors by region. The nominated distributors will be announced next week.

In total, 27 vendors have been nominated across the seven award categories open to them. Vendor nominations were requested from hundreds of distributors operating throughout the EMEA region. Acer, Asus, Canon, HP and Microsoft all received nominations in multiple categories. The full rundown of award categories and nominated vendors (in alphabetical order for each category) is:

DISTREE XXL gathers 400-plus senior executives from EMEA’s Information Communications Technologies (ICT) & Consumer Electronics (CE) volume distribution channel. During the course of the three-day event, delegates take part in thousands of pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with hundreds of vendors. Each year, hundreds of new distribution agreements are struck across EMEA as a result of business relationships initiated at DISTREE XXL.

DISTREE XXL will also invite leading e-tailers from across EMEA to join the region’s premier channel event. The landmark move is the first time that e-tailers have been added to the DISTREE XXL delegate mix and underlines the growing importance of web-based sales channels.

DISTREE XXL remains the most cost-effective event platform for vendors seeking to launch, build or manage distribution channels within EMEA. More than 1,000 senior channel executives are set to descend on Monaco in February 2010 to attend EMEA’s ultimate go-to-market gathering. www.distree.com/xxl
