Zycko brings Riverbed training to Europe

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 25 April 2008

Zycko Academy, the training arm of value-added distributor (VAD) Zycko, will launch training courses on Riverbed’s wide-area data services (WDS) in Europe during 2008. The Riverbed training, presented by Zycko will launch in Germany, Benelux and France.

Peter Barnes, director of training services at Zycko Academy, said: “Zycko Academy have been successfully delivering authorised Riverbed training in the UK for more than a year. We have also been delivering some training in Germany. The expanded European training operation that we are now making available is a natural progression of our capability and growing demand.”

Zycko, which specialises in distributing convergent storage and IP solutions, plans to expand the training programme to additional countries later in the year, including Italy, Russia and Norway.

“We’re very happy to see the geographic expansion of Zycko Academy as a Riverbed authorised training partner. Zycko Academy has dedicated itself to delivering the same high quality Riverbed training that our customers and partners experience at our headquarters,” said Alex Hesterberg, senior director, Riverbed professional services. “This is key to the Riverbed global WDS mission.”

Zycko Academy has a team of certified trainers operating throughout the UK and Europe and the company claims that its current investment in resources allows the Academy to deliver training throughout EMEA.

Emily Price, training product manager at Zycko Academy, said: “This announcement is a great step in Zycko Academy’s Riverbed training partnership and signals our commitment to offer Riverbed training to all customers throughout Europe.”

The three-day Riverbed course covers deployment, installation and configuration of a WDS solution. European dates will be made available on Zycko Academy’s website as well as the Riverbed online booking system which can be accessed via the company’s partner portal.

Zycko is privately held and has been profitable since inception in 2000, when the company’s original charter was to market data networking accessories to resellers as a wholesale distributor. Zycko now employs 250 staff, serving over 3,000 resellers around the world from eleven offices on four continents. The company enjoys an annual turnover of more than $180m.

Zycko’s strategic partner base includes world-class companies such as Avago, Asigra, CommVault, Diligent, Edgewater, Epicenter, Hitachi Data Systems, Intransa, Isilon, LSI, OnStor, Polycom, Powerdsine, QLogic, Riverbed and USystems.
