650 delegates attend DISTREE IT Channel Week

by Stuart Wilson, Thursday 24 June 2010

DISTREE IT Channel Week (DITCW) attracted more than 650 delegates from across the Russia & CIS region for its 2010 event in Moscow from June 23-25th. More than 1500 one-on-one meetings took place as participants used DITCW’s powerful web-based meeting scheduler to maximum effect.

Representatives from 85 vendors met with 250 senior channel executives, spanning both the business and consumer channels. Vendors supporting the event included Platinum Sponsor Dell; Gold Sponsors Koodoo, Lenovo and Qumo; plus Silver Sponsors Oregon Scientific, Toshiba and Sony. Brother and Sony also participated as technical sponsors. DITCW also gave vendors the chance to meet with representatives from 18 press partners, ensuring maximum exposure.

“DITCW 2010 demonstrated the energy and enthusiasm that has returned to the Russia & CIS channel after a difficult trading period last year,” commented Frederic Simard, CEO at DISTREE Events, the organiser behind DITCW. “The influx of new vendors into the market has picked up in 2010 and the channel appetite for growth and business development among vendors and partners has increased as a result of improved market conditions.”

DITCW’s ‘60 Seconds to Convince’ conference session gave vendors a platform to pitch their latest products to the entire event audience. Each vendor had one minute to convince the audience before live electronic voting decided the eventual winners.

A total of 16 vendors entered the ’60 Seconds to Convince’ Award for Product Innovation with Sony emerging triumphant with 44% of the final vote. ATI, Dell and Kaspersky also made the final four after winning their respective group votes.

In the ’60 Seconds to Convince’ Award for Product Design, accessories vendor Trexta won the coveted prize with 53% of the final vote. A-Data, PocketBook and Qumo also made the final four. Qumo picked up the overall ’60 Seconds to Convince’ Award for Best Presentation.

DITCW delegates also received the latest market intelligence as Dr. Rudi Aunkofer, Global Director IT at GfK Retail & Technology, delivered a keynote speech examining the market recovery and the impact on go-to-market models in the Russia & CIS region. The Russia & CIS channel strategy of major vendors also came under the DITCW spotlight as AMD, Dell, Iomega, Kaspersky, Lenovo, Qumo and Toshiba participated in Talk Show sessions.

DITCW also launched its new Strategy Forum session at this year’s event. This session saw 40 of the region’s most senior channel executives come together to discuss topical business issues and come up with recommendations to solve some of the challenges currently faced by the market.

The Strategy Forum agenda included sessions on the impact of cloud computing on the Russian market; the development of e-tailing as a viable channel; the importance of timely and accurate channel data, and the human resources challenges facing vendors and partners alike. The main recommendations from these sessions were relayed to the DITCW audience during an interactive keynote session with live voting on topical issues to assess market sentiment.

“DITCW has reinforced its credentials as the ultimate channel event for vendors looking to launch, build or manage channels in the Russia & CIS region,” Simard continued. “We look forward to working together with partners and vendors to provide an event platform that drives channel growth and business development in the years to come.”

DITCW represents the combination of two events: Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) and Digital Business Channel (DBC). DITCW operates a unique business model based on an ‘invitation only’ event format, offering a compelling mix of pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings, keynotes, awards and networking opportunities for vendors and channel executives operating in the Russia & CIS region.
