MERA 2014 AWARDS: Retailer & individual winners

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 30 May 2014

The seventh annual Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) Awards Gala Dinner took place on Wednesday 21st May in conjunction with DISTREE Middle East. The ICT and consumer electronics (CE) channel event was held at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. Hundreds of senior vendor, distributor and retail channel executives attended the Gala Dinner.

Farouk Hemraj, CEO at DISTREE Events, said: “Vendors at the Gala Dinner took part in a live electronic vote to determine the overall winner in each retailer category. Nominations were determined using continuous feedback from vendors during the last 12 months through the MERA Monthly Monitor Report (MMR).”

“Vendors and retailers were also asked to nominate people within their organisation for the individual MERA Awards. These were then collated on a ballot paper. During DISTREE Middle East these ballot papers were completed by attending companies as part of a confidential voting process. Vendors voted for retail executive winners, while retailers were asked to vote for their preferred vendor executives,” Hemraj added.

This year’s awards also saw two individuals elevated into the MERA Hall of Fame in recognition of their individual success over a number of years.
