Datapoint signs Corebridge & Sipera Systems to Unified Communication Practice
Monday 18 October 2010
Datapoint, a leading communication systems integrator for businesses, announced that it has added Corebridge, the unified communication (UC) productivity software and Sipera Systems, the leader in real-time Unified Communications enablement and security to its Unified Communication Practice. Corebridge provides UC productivity middleware to speed up and simplify communication across different information systems and sources, while Sipera overcomes the emerging issue of UC security.
The Corebridge and Sipera technologies complement core platforms from Avaya and Genesys, giving Datapoint leadership in the UC systems integration market including IP telephony. Corebridge and Sipera follow the recent signing in the last six months of Polycom and Nectar, a software firm specialising in managed services for the voice and data networks.
Corebridge’s vendor-agnostic UC middleware speeds up and simplifies communication across different information systems, including multiple UC systems, devices and locations. With its simple desktop client toolbar, users can rapidly search multiple contacts and immediately ‘click to dial’ from personal contacts in Microsoft Outlook to corporate directories, CRM and other databases. The software collates valuable CRM information such as the contact history of customers and contacts across an organisation. In addition, Corebridge provides a sophisticated billing application which Datapoint believes is suited ideally to professional services such as the legal sector where every minute of consultancy needs to be accounted and charged for.
The rollout of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is improving UC productivity with benefits such as more flexible communication across multiple devices and reduced communication costs via least-cost routing. However, with this comes a greater security threat, similar to the data market before the introduction of firewalls. According to Nemertes Research half (50%) of SMBs are using or evaluating SIP trunking, yet only one third are using any kind of UC/VoIP security. The solutions from Sipera enable companies to quickly and easily migrate to VoIP and Unified Communications without creating risk of security breaches or compliance violations.
Paul Brewer, director of Technology Solutions said, “Datapoint’s signing of Corebridge and Sipera is all part of our strategy to pioneer new ground in UC, providing genuine innovation coupled with consultancy expertise for our enterprise customers. All too often, UC has been focussed on technology while forgetting that the technology is redundant if you don’t take a hard look at improving the culture and communication processes. He added, “For example, with Corebridge - our customers are seeing UC productivity gains of between 30 minutes to an hour per week.
Sipera’s award-winning UC-Sec security appliances help customers to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of mission-critical communication in the new converged network. With the UC-Sec from Sipera, customers can: • Migrate to VoIP and UC while remaining compliant with privacy, monitoring and archiving requirements. • Deploy encryption, threat prevent, access control and user authentication for VoIP, video, collaboration and messaging tools without affecting performance. • Adopt low-cost SIP trunks with the industry’s greatest protection against toll fraud, intrusion and identity theft attacks. • Extend UC safely and securely to any supporting device in any location over any network – including IP phones, smartphones, soft-clients and others.
These benefits are available in a single plug-and-play appliance that is certified as interoperable with leading VoIP and UC platforms and end-user devices. In addition to Datapoint’s Unified Communication Practice (which includes IP Telephony), there are four other Practices: Voice Self-Service; Workforce Optimisation; and Compliance.
