Pan-European distributors at DISTREE XXL

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 5 November 2010

DISTREE XXL 2011 has confirmed that it is on course for a record turnout of distributors from across the EMEA region. The event’s new Pan-European Distributor Programme (PDP) is attracting some of the channel’s biggest names to EMEA’s premier channel event. Ingram Micro is the latest distributor to confirm its participation, with a team of six senior executives led by European president Alain Maquet set to attend DISTREE XXL 2011 in Monaco from February 8-11th.

“The Pan-European Distributor Programme (PDP) was a natural extension for DISTREE XXL,” said Farouk Hemraj, CEO at DISTREE Events. “It provides a powerful meeting platform for the region’s top volume distributors to meet with senior channel executives from some of the regions’ most influential vendors.”

In addition to Alain Maquet, other members of Ingram Micro’s senior EMEA team registered to attend DISTREE XXL 2011 include Vincenzo Baggio, Gerhard Schulz, Johan Vandenbussche, Christian Bittebierre and Dominique Meyer.

Ingram Micro joins other companies such as Asbis and Elko as participants in the DISTREE XXL Pan-European Distributor Programme with several more major companies set to finalise their involvement in the next few weeks.

“As an independent event platform, DISTREE XXL can offer an incredible return on the time invested by power distributors and A-brand vendors that attend the event,” explained Hemraj. “For distributors, this means meeting senior executives from a number of vendors in a short space of time. They also have the opportunity to engage with emerging vendors and meet some of EMEA’s major retailers and e-tailers.”

“For vendors, the event is the perfect way to take the pulse of the EMEA channel. Vendors can meet existing distributors, assess potential new partners, discuss strategy with retailer and e-tailer partners and evaluate market conditions across EMEA,” Hemraj concluded.

DISTREE XXL 2011 is set to attract more than 1,000 delegates as the movers and shakers of the EMEA channel gather in Monaco for an intensive three-day event combining pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings, conference programmes, awards and professional networking opportunities.

“The scope of DISTREE XXL continues to grow year-on-year,” added Hemraj. “Due to demand from vendors, we have added both retailers and e-tailers to the traditional delegate audience of distribution executives. By uniting vendors, distributors, retailers and e-tailers in one place at one time, DISTREE XXL has become the ‘must attend’ event for anyone involved in the EMEA volume channel for IT and consumer electronics (CE) products.”

In total, senior executives from more than 400 major distributor, retailer and e-tailer organisations will attend DISTREE XXL, linking up with representatives from approximately 150 vendors.

Delegates at DISTREE XXL also have the opportunity to attend the ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2011 Awards’. The glitzy ceremony features live electronic voting to determine best-in-class vendors across 11 product categories. Now entering its third year, the evening also includes awards for the best distributors by sub-region with EMEA. Full details of the awards can be found at www.channelacademyawards.com
