Recent figures from market analysts ITResearch indicated a sharp increase for notebook sales in Russia in the first quarter of 2017 - up 16.9% year-on-year.

The research data claimed that close to 661,000 notebooks were sold in Russia in the first quarter of 2017 with a value of RUB26.1 billion (US$459m). This meant that the average sales price (ASP) for a notebook in Russia in the first quarter of 2017 stood at US$695.

In March alone, 280,000 notebooks were sold in Russia, according to ITResearch – a strong 41% year-on-year increase – underlining the demand recovery taking place in the Russian tech market.

Other product categories are also displaying signs of recovery within Russia. ITResearch reckons that some 6,500 projectors were sold in March 2017 – up 17% year-on- year and an impressive 60% higher than the number recorded in February 2017.

In calendar 2016, 2.33 million monitors were sold in Russia worth a total of US$369m, according to ITResearch. This represented a 10.6% unit increased and a value increase of 5.4% compared to 2015. The value decrease was attributed to the fact that many units sold were budget monitors sold as part of large tender projects. There was a clear buying shift towards widescreen monitors within Russia.
