VIP appoints Shepherd for retail

UK-based distributor VIP Computers has recruited Alicia Shepherd to head up a new retail sales team in 2012. The appointment forms part of VIP’s efforts to build sales within the retail channel as the company looks to continue its diversification away from its traditional core business of components distribution.

VIP hopes to enhance its reputation as a distributor of branded consumer products and build on its existing relationships with UK retailers. VIP claims that recent internal system enhancements and ongoing operational improvements will assist Shepherd and her team in building sales in the retail channel. Shepherd has more than 16 years channel experience including a stint at hardware vendor Acer.

Shepherd said: “I’m really looking forward to joining the VIP team and spearheading the VIP drive into retail. The key is to be clear to our retail customers and vendor partners exactly what VIP’s compelling initiatives are and how these are designed to deliver greater value and superior service against their twin pressures of rising inflation and diminishing discretionary spend.”

Dave Stevinson, sales director at VIP, concluded: “Our strategy is to develop relationships with the top 50 technology retailers and the vendors who support them. We are determined to become an important and strategic partner to the retailers and offer them a compelling reason to align with VIP."


Top distributors, retailers and e-tailers from across the EMEA region are invited to attend DISTREE EMEA 2012, the premier event for the regional ICT and CE channel, from February 7-10th in Monaco.

DISTREE EMEA gathers hundreds of senior executives from EMEA’s Information Communications Technologies (ICT) & Consumer Electronics (CE) volume distribution channel.

During the course of the three-day event, delegates take part in thousands of pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with hundreds of vendors. Each year, hundreds of new distribution agreements are struck across the region as a result of business relationships initiated at DISTREE EMEA.

DISTREE EMEA 2012 will also build on successful initiatives launched at last year’s sold out event including a regional awards ceremony. The ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2012 Awards’ will include more than 20 categories for vendors and distributors from across the region.
