Cyberoam launches security certification

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 18 July 2008

Unified threat management (UTM) appliance vendor Cyberoam has whipped the covers off a security certification programme for partners and VARs. The new programme aims to meet the growing market need for certified partner professionals in identity-based security and networking.

The certification programme consists of two certifications: Cyberoam certified security professional (CCNSP), the first level of the programme, and Cyberoam certified security expert (CCNSE). The certification gives in-depth understanding of networking and security concepts in addition to training for expertise in the deployment of Cyberoam UTM series, according to the vendor.

“The certification adds significant value to the trainee’s career path,” said Harish Chib, VP new business development at Cyberoam. “With enterprises increasingly adopting identity-based security, the certification provides confirmation of the knowledge and understanding gained by the trainee in the future direction that network security is taking.”

CCNSP offers expertise in the installation and configuration of all Cyberoam features and functionality while the CCNSE professional offers expertise in product installation, integration, support and management, advanced deployment and advanced troubleshooting. Trainees who have successfully cleared the CCNSP level are eligible to apply for CCNSE.

Derek Standley of Standley Technical Services, a Cyberoam partner in the UK, said: “I was part of one of the first batches of CCNSPs. By putting me through real-world scenarios and hands-on implementation, the programme didn’t just update me on the latest networking and security concepts, it also helped me do the complete deployment and configuration of Cyberoam with efficiency and customisation to the organisation’s network. It offered me valuable practical experience.”

Cyberoam claims that its UTM appliances are unique in providing total visibility into the individual user’s activity within the enterprise network, delivering robust network security through control over the user’s activity. With its multi-core UTM appliances, Cyberoam offers a strong price-performance ratio in the industry, according to the vendor.
