VIP Computers extends warehouse

UK distributor VIP Computers has officially opened its expanded warehouse facility in Warrington, North-West England. The US$2.5m warehouse extension adds an extra 31,000 square feet, increasing capacity by more than 3,000 extra pallet spaces. The extension takes VIP Computers’ total warehouse capacity to 100,000 square feet with space for 7,000 pallets.

The warehouse was completed on budget and on time by Williams Tarr, a construction and property development group based in Warrington, and is designed to world-class safety, security and environmental standards, which aims to ensure efficient and careful handling of products.

Jatti Sahni, chairman at VIP Computers, said: “This expansion of the warehouse will help our company to grow further, allowing us to tap into the growth of the IT market. VIP recently bolstered its team with 60 new employees from the North-West region and will continue to invest in its future as a major employer in the area.”

VIP Computers annually services in excess of 2,000 channel accounts and moves over 9,000 items per day, with a 99.7% shipping accuracy rate. The extra capacity is expected to drastically boost the number of items processed per day. With new pick locations added, VIP can also scale up white label shipping to customers.

Running on an industry leading warehouse management IT system, the new warehouse features handheld readers that will manage the company’s daily stock movements and customer despatches with automated labelling and documentation.
