Security software vendor Webroot has appointed Nicholas Banks as managing director (MD) for the EMEA region. Banks will be responsible for overall business strategy, sales, marketing and channel management for Webroot’s growing consumer and enterprise operations within EMEA.

Banks joined Webroot from 2Wire, a provider of global telecom carriers, where he drove the rapid growth of 2Wire’s European business and expansion. Banks’ extensive background in EMEA business development, security and technology also includes strategic roles with WatchGuard Technologies, CyberGuard, Computer Associates and Olivetti.

Webroot has also strengthened its executive team in other parts of the globe with Charles Heunemann named as MD for the vendor’s new Australian operation and Dennis Stoltenberg joining the team as VP for human resources.

“Nicholas, Charles and Dennis each possess rich experience in building global teams and strategies for developing innovative technologies. With their leadership and contributions, we are now well positioned to greatly accelerate our growth in EMEA, Australia and other emerging geographic markets,” said Peter Watkins, CEO at Webroot.

Webroot has also added former Postini CEI Quentin Gallivan to its Board of Directors as the vendor look to accelerate its global expansion and reinforce its position in the security software-as-a-service (SaaS) space. As CEO at Postini, Gallivan built the company into a SaaS powerhouse with more than 35,000 companies using its service globally.
