Hurd resigns as HP boss

Mark Hurd has resigned as chairman, CEO and president at global IT giant HP effective immediately. Hurd’s departure comes in the wake of a sexual harassment investigation involving HP marketing contractor and racy movie star Jodie Fisher. The investigation found that Hurd had not violated HP’s sexual harassment policy, but did find violations of HP’s standards of business conduct. (lire la suite)

Jarir Bookstore posts second quarter figures

Saudi Arabian retail giant Jarir Bookstore posted sales of US$179.2m for the quarter ending June 2010 - up 17.3% year-on-year. Jarir’s net profits for the quarter climbed 3.2% from a year earlier to hit US$20.2m. Jarir’s first half sales for 2010 were up 18.8% year-on-year at US$391.3m with net profits for the six months ending June totaling US$51.8m. (lire la suite)

Brightstar Europe upbeat on MCC deal

Mobile distributor Brightstar Europe, a joint venture between Tech Data and Brightstar, has revealed details of the business benefits expected from its acquisition of Mobil Communication Compnay (MCC) in the Netherlands and Belgium. The deal with MCC, currently part of Triade Group, forms part of a separate planned acquisition by Tech Data of Triade Group, which includes several subsidiaries in the IT and consumer electronics distribution markets.
