Full disk encryption provider AlertBoot has struck a partnership with Virtual Network Consult (VNC), a VAD specialising in commercial open source and cloud solutions. Elko adds Advantech rights in Russia and Baltic States

Elko Group has become an official partner for industrial computing vendor Advantech in the Baltic States and Russia. Elko will offer the vendor’s full portfolio of solutions. Advantech provides ePlatform products and services. Datatec offer for Comztek lapses

Datatec’s offer to buy Comztek has lapsed and the South African IT group has declared that it ‘will not pursue this matter further’. Datatec had initially tabled a bid in early September that valued Comztek at US$13.6m financed partly by cash and partly by the issue of shares. Datatec raised the value of its offer to US$14.6m on 12th October after completing due diligence. On 15th October, Mustek – a 41.84% shareholder in Comztek – announced that it had rejected the increased offer. (lire la suite)

Ingram Micro strengthens executive team

Global distribution giant Ingram Micro has boosted its executive team, appointing Sam Kamel as senior VP for corporate strategy. Kamel will be responsible for planning, market analysis and business development, with particular emphasis on emerging technologies and new opportunities. In his new role Kamel will report into CEO Greg Spierkel. (lire la suite)

EMEA PC shipments climb in third quarter

EMEA PC shipments for the third quarter of 2010 hit 27.3 million units – up 7.3% year-on-year – according to the analysts at Gartner. Acer took top spot, shifting 6.15 million units – down 0.2% year-on-year. HP’s volumes climbed 5.2% to 5.2 million units as the vendor took second spot. Dell came in third with Asus and Lenovo picking up fourth and fifth respectively. (lire la suite)
