Nomination and submission forms now open for ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2014 Awards’

The ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2014 Awards’ will take place in conjunction with DISTREE Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), the region’s leading annual event for the volume ICT and consumer electronics (CE) channel. When Merlin meets Merlion in Singapore

It will be a case of Merlin meets Merlion at next week’s DISTREE Asia Pacific (APAC) event in Singapore. Merlin Digital is a leading private label brand in the Middle East for technology and gadgets, with a head office in Dubai, UAE. The company claims that it has wowed customers in the Middle East since the late 1990s. The Merlion is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore. Retail-to-Business (#R2B) Advisory Board holds first meeting

The first meeting of the Advisory Board for the 2014 Retail-to-Business (R2B) channel summit took place in Paris last month. The R2B Advisory Board includes senior channel executives from major ICT vendors including Lenovo, AMD, and Lexmark. Retailers in the Advisory Board include Fnac and Maplin, with many other major players pledging their support to attend the conference. Distributor Tech Data is also a launch member of the R2B Advisory Board. Read full story

GITEX 2013: Channel updates

It’s that time of year again as the Middle East market gears up for GITEX month. First up is Shopper from 5-12th October, followed by Technology Week running 20-24th October. With Shopper now happening twice a year, this October’s event has lost some of its impact. Holding it on separate dates from the trade show also means less overall buzz during Technology Week. New Retail-to-Business (#R2B) channel summit confirmed for DISTREE EMEA 2014

DISTREE EMEA has announced the inclusion of a new Retail-to-Business (R2B) summit as part of its 2014 event agenda. The new session will be hosted by ICT channel tracking research experts CONTEXT and will cover all major European markets. MERA: 2013 Awards – RETAILER WINNERS

Taking place for the 6th year in a row in 2013, the Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) Awards once again celebrated excellence in the regional ICT and consumer electronics (CE) retail channel. Using a unique live voting system, dozens of senior vendor executives selected the Retailer of the Year across nine national markets. Mass merchants Carrefour and Lulu were celebrating in 2013, picking up awards in four and three countries respectively. Read full story

MERA: 2013 Awards – VENDOR WINNERS

The Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) has formally announced the vendor winners from this year’s retail channel awards, which took place recently in conjunction with DISTREE Middle East 2013 in Abu Dhabi. A total of 150 senior retail executives voted live for their preferred brands across 15 separate categories. Samsung led the way, receiving awards in three separate categories, while Dell picked up two awards. A further 11 vendors won one award apiece. The PC Vendor of the Year Award was a dead heat with both Samsung and Dell picking up 26% of the live vote each. Read full story
