EET Europarts snaps up Fusion Technologies

Irish audio-visual (AV) distributor Fusion Technologies has been acquired by EET Europarts. Fusion Technologies was founded in 2004, and has grown to become one of Ireland’s leading trade only distributors of AV products, working with a select group of leading AV manufacturers. "Fusion Technologies has a very strong position in the Irish market, distributing quality products to professional AV customers. It is a perfect match for us to grow the pro-AV and digital signage business area further," said John Thomas, CEO at EET Group. Read full story

Amazon completes Souq.com acquisition

E-commerce giant Amazon has confirmed the official completion of the acquisition of Souq.com. As the first step of integration, customers can now log on to Souq.com using their Amazon credentials. Souq.com claims that by becoming part of Amazon it can bring even more products and services to customers in the region and further expand ‘Fulfilled by Souq’ to empower sellers. "It is an exhilarating time for the e-commerce industry in the region,” said Souq.com CEO and co-founder Ronaldo Mouchawar. Read full story

Ingram Micro adds GFI Software rights in MEA

Distributor Ingram Micro has signed a Middle East and Africa (MEA) distribution deal with secutity and communications software provider GFI Software. Building on its existing relationship with GFI Software in Turkey and Australia, this new agreement will allow Ingram Micro to distribute GFI’s complete range of IT solutions to channel partners in 17 additional countries, including Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen. Kingston appoints Brightstar in India

Memory products vendor Kingston Technology has appointed Brightstar Telecommunication as a national distributor for its flash business in India. Kingston hopes that the agreement will allow it to reinforce its current footprint in India and expand into new market segments. Bowers & Wilkins sets up Australian subsidiary

UK-based audio brand Bowers & Wilkins is entering the Australian market. The company has set up a dedicated Australian subsidiary to start marketing and distributing its products from the start of August. Lars Hundborg, Bowers & Wilkins CEO for Asia Pacific, said: “Australia is a key strategic market for Bowers & Wilkins and so we determined that the best way to service the Australian consumer and support our existing dealers would be to establish direct operations in the country.” Read full story

EET Europarts buys French distributor Heimdal

EET Europarts has acquired French POS distributor Heimdal Distribution. Heimdal is a focused Zebra distributor and specialised in equipment dedicated to mobile automatic identification and logistics. John Thomas, group CEO at EET Group, said: "Acquisitions are an important part of our overall growth strategy, and a contributing factor to our successful growth of the POS and auto-ID business. Harvey Norman expands in East Malaysia

Asia Pacific tech retailer Harvey Norman is expanding in East Malaysia, opening an anchor store at the Vivacity Megamall in Kuching. Harvey Norman becomes the fourth anchor tenant in the mall and its new outlet will span almost 47000 square feet. The move to open a store in East Malaysia forms part of the retailer’s omnichannel strategy. Harvey Norman Malaysia has been handling more than 10000 online transactions from customers in East Malaysia, even though the company did not have a physical retail presence in the region. Courts names new CEO in Indonesia

Singapore-based tech retailer Courts has appointed a new boss for its operation in Indonesia. Joseph Greenway has been named as the new country CEO. Greenway rejoins Courts after two years as COO of Fantastic Furniture in Australia. Prior to that, Greenway spent 15 years at Courts in a variety of executive roles in Singapore and Malaysia. The appointment comes after Roy Santoso resigned from his role as Indonesia country CEO at Courts to pursue other career opportunities. Read full story
