Asbis’ category growth recognised by Intel

Emerging markets distributor Asbis picked up two awards at Intel’s recent partner connect conference held in Prague, Czech Republic. Intel picked up an award for the highest year-on-year growth in server sales in 2017 in EMEA. The distributor was also recognised for the highest year-on-year growth in SSD sales in 2017 in EMEA. Avaya appoints UK channel lead

Avaya has appointed Alison Hastings as UK channel lead. Reporting to Steve Joyner, European channel lead at Avaya, Hastings is responsible for maximising the value Avaya brings to its UK partner community, increasing portfolio adoption and growing Avaya’s channel business in the UK. The appointment comes as Avaya shares a renewed strategy to provide increased value to partners and customers and to invest further in its capabilities to anticipate and adapt to the dynamic needs of the channel. HMD Global raises US$100m

Mobile device vendor HMD Global - the home of Nokia phones - has raised an additional US$100m from multiple investors to scale business operations and fund the company’s growth in its second year. AB Group doubles gaming hardware sales in Poland

Central and Eastern European (CEE) distributor AB Group’s sales hit US$505m for the third quarter of its 2017-2018 financial year. Pre-tax profits came in at US$6m with after-tax profits reaching US$2.8m for the period, which covered the first quarter of calendar 2018. This represents an after-tax profit margin of 0.55%. Gaming hardware sales more than doubled year-on-year in Poland for AB, with sales in this category climbing 62% in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for the distributor. Read full story

Cybersecurity is a fast-growing part of a service provider’s offering and this landmark indicates a continued and strong focus on endpoint protection services in the industry. Swedish audio brand Jays Group has partnered with distributor Aqipa, one of the leading retailers of consumer electronics and related accessories in the DACH region. The agreement covers Jays’ current and future product range including a dozen SKUs from the a-JAYS, u-JAYS and upcoming products. Aqipa’s experience as a consumer electronic retail specialist stretches back over 25 years. Xiaomi and ABC Data open Mi Store in Warsaw

Global tech brand Xiaomi, in cooperation with its local distribution partner ABC Data, has opened an authorised Mi Store in the Arkadia shopping centre in Warsaw, Poland. On the first day of its operation, the shop was visited by 2800 customers. On 12th May the Warsaw Mi Store, along with Polish online shop Mi-home.pl sold almost 1000 Xiaomi devices. Read full story
