Tech Data completes Scribona buy

Distribution colossus Tech Data has announced that it has completed its acquisition of Scribona assets in Sweden, Finland and Norway. Tech Data is splashing out approximately US$60m plus a further US$23m premium for the net value of the transferred assets including inventory, vendor agreements, customer lists and office equipment. Altigen has boosted its European channel reach, appointing Boport Tele-Communication as a master distributor covering the Benelux region. Infor names new EMEA channel boss

Business software vendor Infor has promoted Jean Philippe Pommel to VP EMEA channels and alliances. In his new role, Pommel will assume revenue and management responsibility for Infor’s channel and alliances programme in EMEA. Pommel, previously global account manager at Infor, will report into Keith Deane, the vendor’s EMEA president. Read full story

Finally and Prism strike EMEA deal

Finally Software, a security product and service provider, has signed an EMEA-wide master reseller agreement with Prism Microsystems. Cherry secures Dot deal in UK

Cherry Electrical Products has appointed Dot Distribution as a UK distributor. Dot will carry Cherry’s security products, which include smartcard, RFID and biometric keyboards and standalone smartcard-RFID readers. PC price points slide

The latest PC shipment data from the number crunchers at Gartner has shown first quarter 2008 unit sales in Western Europe climbing 14.1% year-on-year to 15.2 million units. The change in the dollar-euro exchange rate allowed vendors to reduce average selling prices (ASPs) much faster than expected, according to the team at Gartner. Read full story

Vero heads to Egypt with Kenana

CAD and CAM software supplier Vero Software has appointed Kenana as a reseller for the Egyptian and Middle East markets. Kenana, which is based in Nasr City in Cairo, Egypt, started as a training and consultancy centre in 2007. Mio makes Middle East Moov with IMS

GPS device vendor Mio Technology’s co-operation agreement with UAE-based International Marketing Services (IMS) is bringing the latest kit to the Middle East.
