Synnex expands Fuji Xerox partnership

Synnex has expanded its Australian distribution deal with Fuji Xerox Printers and will now stock the brand’s entire range of products. Along with Fuji Xerox Printers’ retail solutions, Synnex will also now distribute the company’s entire product range, enabling Fuji Xerox Printers to expand its reach across the IT and systems integrator markets, opening up new channels. Dicker Data adds HDS rights in Australia

Distributor Dicker Data has added Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) to its portfolio in Australia. The new agreement allows resellers to capitalise on HDS’ solutions for midmarket and enterprise customers. Diacker Data has also formed a new enterprise data business unit to focus on the digital transformation and IoT opportunity to resellers in the midmarket and enterprise segment. Read full story

Majid Al Futtaim bags Geant

Majid Al Futtaim, a leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, recently acquired Retail Arabia, the franchise owner of 26 Geant stores across the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait as well as 4 Gulfmart supermarkets in Bahrain. The deal has been agreed between Majid Al Futtaim and Retail Arabia’s parent company BMA International. As part of the Majid Al Futtaim retail offering, Carrefour currently operates over 160 stores in 15 markets across the MENA region. Read full story

Dominion buys The Phone House

Retail giant Dixons Carphone has agreed to dispose of its entire holdings in The Phone House Spain, Connected World Services Europe and Smarthouse to Global Dominion Access SA, a provider of technological services and solutions, headquartered in Bilbao, Spain. Dominion will integrate Phone House into its smart innovation business and look to deliver a range of services to consumers related to smart homes. Read full story

Exertis strengthens gaming team

Distributor Exertis has appointed Matt Finn as an account director within its consumer division based in Harlow, UK. Finn will be responsible for the management of key accounts focused on gaming, reporting to Alex Croft, Exertis, sales and commercial director. EET Europarts has snapped up UK-based POS distributor DED, completing its fifth acquisition this year. "With the acquisition of DED Ltd we are now entering into the league of the leading pan-European distributors within the POS and auto ID area,” said John Thomas, group CEO at EET Group. Desktop 3D printer shipments up 17% in first quarter

The first quarter of 2017 saw both worldwide shipments and revenues in the 3D printer space increase, with activity ramping up in the midmarket, according to market research firm CONTEXT. Shipments in the personal and desktop 3D printer segment climbed 17% year-on-year to hit 88,000 units. The average price of a personal and desktop 3D printer slid to US$970 in the first quarter, down from US$1,142 a year earlier. Read full story

Nuvias bags Benelux distributor DCB

Nuvias Group, the pan-EMEA VAD has acquired Benelux VAD outfit DCB. Nuvias already has offices in both Amsterdam and Brussels. This move will strengthen and grow its presence in the Benelux region, according to Nuvias. DCB has more than twenty years’ experience in the industry and is focused on cybersecurity, with a vendor portfolio including WatchGuard Technologies, Kaspersky Lab, Trustwave and Centrify. Lightwave Link Plus achieves Apple HomeKit certification

UK-based smart home solutions provider LightwaveRF has announced that its next generation Lightwave Link Plus has been certified under Apple’s licensing scheme as a ‘Works with Apple HomeKit’ product. Andrew Pearson, CEO at LightwaveRF, said: “This announcement of the next generation Lightwave Link and its certification by Apple is the culmination of an extensive research and development programme over more than two years.” Read full story
