Cyberoam signs up Comguard

Unified threat management (UTM) device vendor Cyberoam has struck another channel deal in the European market, naming Comguard as its national distributor for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Cyberoam reckons that the deal with Comguard will open up a strong channel for its UTM products, allowing it to access multiple market segments. Read full story

Ironkey ramps up channel numbers

US-based flash drive vendor Ironkey has announced that more than 100 VARs are now signed up for its global channel programme. The vendor has also beefed up the benefits of its partner programme to provide even more comprehensive support to resellers. Acer hands Hasoub executive partner status

Hardware giant Acer has strengthened its Saudi Arabian channel with the appointment of Hasoub as an executive partner. The Acer executive partner programme supports business-to-business resellers with a clear focus on supplying solutions to medium and large businesses. STME bags HDS partner prize

Middle East storage integrator STME has picked up a 2007 partner award from Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) at the vendor’s annual executive partner forum for Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East and Africa. During event, which was held in Munich, Germany, STME picked up its partner prize in the sofwtare category in recognition of its integration of a Hitachi storgae solution at a large Middle East enterprise customer. Maxdata insolvency proceedings begin

Insolvency proceedings have commenced for European hardware player Maxdata. The company filed for insolvency at the end of June 2008 in Essen, Germany. The local court has appointed Dr. Winfrid Andres as preliminary insolvency administrator and one of his first acts has been to transfer all UK sales and services operations to Maxdata’s Benelux subsidiary. Software giant Microsoft is making some serious noise around channel-ready services hosted by service providers at its worldwide partner conference. Private label distributors Smarthost and Groupspark are deploying new Micorosft-based services, enabling the reseller channel to expand their portfolio of hosted services and providing greater choices for resellers as they go to market with software plus services. Avaya brings Bayer on board in EMEA

Business communications outfit Avaya has appointed Michael Bayer as president of the vendor’s field operation in EMEA. In his new post Bayer will lead the region’s sales and operations and will work with customers to deliver Avaya solutions across EMEA. Bayer joins Avaya from Motorola, where he was VP and general manager for Motorola EMEA’s enterprise and mobility business, and a member of Motorola’s global steering committee for country management. Netgear adds ICC in Saudi Arabia

Networking vendor netgear has beefed up its Sauid Arabian channel, appointing ICC to resell its products to corporate accounts in the Kingdom. With strong demand from major vertcials cuch as oil and gas, telecoms and reas estate the total value of the Saudi Arabian IT market is forecast to bit US$5 billion per annum by 2012, according to Netgear.
