Gass takes the reins at Tech Data UK

Distribution giant Tech Data has announced that Andy Gass will become managing director of its UK & Ireland operation, replacing Peter Hubbard. Gass takes on the role having spent the past two years fulfilling the role of senior VP, South and West Europe. He will continue to be a member of Tech Data’s European executive board reporting to Nestor Cano. Read full story

EET Europarts adds Motörheadphönes rights

EET Europarts has signed a pan-European distribution deal with headphones brand Motörheadphönes. The Motörheadphönes brand is focused on consumers with an appetite for rock and pop music. If it’s too loud, you’re too old, apparently. The two companies reckon that the target group of rock and pop music fans is actually larger than those who prefer club, dance and hip hop music, based on records of what music consumers actually stream. Distributor winners announced at ‘ECA: 2014 Awards’

Volume ICT and consumer electronics (CE) distributors from across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) were recognised for channel excellence at the ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2014 Awards’, held in conjunction with DISTREE EMEA 2014. In total, ten regional awards and three initiative awards were presented to distributors during a Gala Dinner held in Monaco on Thursday February 13th. Read full story

More than 6000 meetings pre-scheduled for DISTREE EMEA 2014

DISTREE EMEA has announced that more than 6000 pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings have been set up for the four-day channel event, which begins today at the Fairmont Hotel in Monaco. Thousands more meetings will be scheduled at the event, with more than 1000 delegates making full use of the on-site DISTREE Matching Squad to facilitate extra one-on-ones. Read full story

Darty CEO Schultz to open Retail-to-Business Summit

Hardware giant Lenovo has revamped its One Channel partner programme as the vendor looks to realise its market leadership ambitions in EMEA markets. Channel shipments represented 95% of Lenovo’s total business in EMEA in 2013 with indirect revenues via channel partners in the region climbing US$1.5 billion. Esquire signs Thrustmaster and Hercules

South Africa-based distributor Esquire Technologies has added Thrustmaster and Hercules products from Guillemot Corporation to its portfolio. The two companies first met at a DISTREE channel event, going on to sign a South African distribution deal. Guillemot designs and manufactures interactive entertainment hardware and accessories. MMD signs Jumbo deal in Middle East

MMD, the brand licence partner for Philips displays and AOC, has signed a strategic partnership with Middle East distributor Jumbo Electronics. Under the terms of the deal, Jumbo Electronics will offer AOC products in the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Iraq, while also distributing Philips products in Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Iraq.
