Toshiba boosts digital media distribution

EET Europarts acquires EAF stake

Computer and printer parts distributor EET Europarts has expanded its European operation, snapping up a majority stake in UK-based distribution and logistics service provider EAF Supply Chain. EET claims that the deal will help strengthen its service offerings, especially to European service and maintenance companies. EAF has operated in the UK for more than 20 years and has more than 80 employees spread across sites in Warrington, Wokingham and Nottingham. Read full story

ASP declines impact European CE and IT market

Despite the rapid pace of innovation in the consumer electronics and IT categories, retailers in mature markets need to face up to the fact that their overall market size in revenue terms is shrinking. That was the stark message delivered at International CES in Las Vegas this week by Steve Koenig, Director of Industry Analysis at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). Read full story

Technically feasible or commercially viable?

During an International CES pre-event press briefing on Sunday 5th January, Shawn Dubravac, chief economist for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), predicted that more than 20000 new products would be launched this week at CES 2014 in Las Vegas. Don’t expect them all to hit retail shelves in 2014 though. Dubravac was keen to stress the need to distinguish carefully between two sets of products: the ones that are technically feasible and ones that are commercially viable. Read full story
