Pinnacle Africa picks up Seagate rights

Pinnacle Africa, one of Southern Africa’s largest distributors, has been appointed as an official distribution partner for Seagate. Optimus adds McAfee rights

Middle East VAD outfit Optimus has struck a distribution deal with security solutions vendor McAfee. The deal will see Optimus promote and distribute McAfee’ s complete business product range through its channel network across Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. BlackBerry signs Ingram Micro Mobility for Latin America

Smartphone vendor BlackBerry has extended its channel reach in Latin America, signing Ingram Micro Mobility as a regional distribution partner. The two companies claim that the deal will widen the distribution of BlackBerry products and services in the region by leveraging Ingram Micro’s supply chain expertise, extensive infrastructure and channel reach to VARs, system integrators, wireless carriers, retailers and other services providers. Elgato extends UK channel reach

TV and video solutions vendor Elgato has extended its UK channel reach, appointing Tech Data UK as an authorised distributor. The deal, which covers the UK and Ireland, will see Tech Data UK push Elgato’s TV and video solutions for the Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad and Android devices as well as the vendor’s gaming capture devices. TP-Link gets John Lewis shelf space

Networking kit vendor TP-Link has strengthened its UK channel reach, partnering with retailer John Lewis to tap into the consumer market. Distributed by Micro-P, TP-Link’s powerline and wireless network product range will be available nationwide in 35 John Lewis stores as well as online. TP-Link reckons there is an increased demand for easy to use home networking solutions, driven by the boom in the ownership of smart devices. Read full story

Also sales climb for first nine months

European distribution giant Also Group has reported sales of €4.57 billion (US$6.28 billion) for the first nine months of 2013, up 4.9% year-on-year. After-tax profits were up 6.2% year-on-year at €25.7m (US$35.3m). This represented an after-tax profit margin of 0.6% the same as the previous year. Central Europe put in a strong performance while Northern and Eastern Europe started to recover after a tough first half of the year. Read full story
