Tarsus and Platinum Micro to merge

Two of South Africa’s largest distributors, Tarsus Technologies and Platinum Micro, will officially merge their operations on October 1st 2013. Both companies form part of the MB Technologies Group. The merger takes place ahead of MB Technologies’ planned December 2013 move to a new 30,000 square metre warehouse and distribution facility in Waterfall Commercial District, Woodmead, Gauteng, South Africa. Entatech expands warehouse facility

UK-based distributor Entatech has opened a warehouse extension at its head office in Shropshire. The additional space, developed as part of a £1m (US$1.6m) investment plan, gives the distributor an additional 3,000 pallet spaces. This is the first extension Entatech has made to its warehouse since 1997. Read full story

Avnet extends Cisco rights in Latin America

VAD giant Avnet Technology Solutions has expanded its distribution agreement with Cisco, becoming a high-value speciality distributor for data centre products in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Latin American and Caribbean agreement with Cisco complements Avnet’s engagements in the region with Cisco ecosystem partners EMC, NetApp and VMware. It also enables Avnet to provide channel partners with complete converged infrastructure solutions for data centres. Read full story

Rashi Peripherals picks up Intel rights in India

Indian distributor Rashi Peripherals has added Intel to its vendor portfolio. Under the terms of the deal, Rashi Peripherals will push Intel’s complete portfolio and will look to open up new channels for the vendor. Redington snaps up Adeo stake in Turkey

Distribution giant Redington has snapped up a 48% stake in Turkish IT services outfit Adeo for US$1.1m. The deal was conducted through Arena, Redington’s subsidiary in Turkey. According to its stock market statement, Redington plans a further investment of US$150,000 in Adeo to boost its holding to 51%. Read full story

OCZ Technology signs Tech Data deal

Memory product vendor OCZ Technology has struck a distribution deal with Tech Data covering both Latin America and North America. Under the terms of the agreement, Tech Data’s advanced infrastructure solutions (AIS) unit becomes authorised to distribute OCZ’s complete portfolio of flash-based enterprise and client SSDs and associated software solutions to its sales channel throughout North America and Latin America. Dealer group Synaxon UK has struck a partnership with consumer electronics distributor Nedis UK. Cyberoam signs Emitac Qatar

Network security appliances vendor Cyberoam has appointed VAD outfit Emitac Qatar as an in-country distributor. Cyberoam hopes that the deal will allow it to make deeper inroads into the regional security market. Qatar’s high GDP capita makes it an attractive target for cyber criminals, according to Cyberoam.
