Sberbank and Yandex complete joint venture deal

Sberbank and Yandex have completed the formation of a joint venture based on the Yandex.Market platform in Russia. The companies intend to combine the technological capabilities of Yandex and the infrastructure and technologies of Sberbank to develop a leading B2C e-commerce ecosystem. The joint venture is valued at approximately US$1 billion and the two partners will own equal stakes in the company. Read full story

Noon signs partnership with Extra

Online marketplace and e-tailer Noon has signed a partnership agreement with United Electronics Company, the parent company of Saudi Arabian retailer Extra. Under the terms of the deal, Extra becomes Noon’s exclusive Saudi Arabian partner for a range of consumer electronics and home appliance items such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Braun, Kenwood and Moulinex, among others. Exertis acquires MTR Group

Distributor Exertis has acquired UK-based MTR Group, a service and solutions provider specialising in second generation lifecycle extension of mobile, wearable and tablet devices. MTR employs 60 staff at its refurbishment facility in Harlow, Essex. MTR generated sales of £10.8m (US$14.3m) for the year ending 30th November 2016 and has seen significant and sustained year on year growth since its incorporation in 2011 by founders and co-owners Steve Healy and Andy Payne.
