Avnet grabs gold status with Fujitsu Services

Avnet Technology Solution (ATS) has been awarded gold distributor status by Fujitsu Services. The elevated status is the highest available in Fujitsu’s supplier management programme and is based on ATS meeting stringent performance and legislative criteria. Solid Data Systems has partnered with top German reseller Stornet Technologies. Solid Data offers DRAM-based enterprise and carrier class solid-state disk (SSD) storage systems. NTS bags Sharjah printer deal

Middle East systems integrator NTS has bagged an HP printer deal with the Government of Sharjah - one of the emirates of the UAE. Under the terms of the agreement, NTS will supply and install high-end HP printers and scanners for all government departments. The contract also covers a three-year maintenance and support agreement excluding consumables. Read full story

HP bags EDS for US$13.9 billion

HP has reshaped the global IT services landscape with its blockbuster US$13.9 billion agreement to buy EDS. The deal, which is expected to close in the second half of calendar 2008, is expected to more than double HP’s service revenues, which hit US$16.6 billion in full year 2007. Combined, the service businesses of HP and EDS pulled in sales of US$38 billion in 2007, employed some 210,000 employees and worked in more than 80 countries. Read full story

iCore signs IBM reseller agreement

UK-focused IT management consultancy iCore has signed a reseller agreement with DNS Arrow for IBM Maximo asset management solutions and IBM’s service desk product, Tivoli service request manager. This is the first software application that iCore will resell in its ten-year history and builds on the existing reseller base for IBM’s asset and service management solutions. Read full story

Sharaf debuts DG Help

UAE retailer Sharaf DG has launched a technology services division called DG Help. The new service will allow consumers in the UAE to dial a toll free number for a free check-up of their PCs, laptops, wireless connections or home theatre systems, irrespective of whether the kit was purchased at Sharaf DG. Callers can arrange an appointment with a Tech Doctor who will schedule a visit to the customer to troubleshoot any problems. Read full story

Sybase signs up KASP in Kuwait

Enterprise and mobility solutions provider Sybase has struck a partnership with Kuwait Application Service Provider (KASP) – a Kuwait-based IT solutions outfit offering consultancy and business intelligence solutions. Rocom picks up UK Ericsson deal

Distribution outfit Rocom, part of the AT Communications (ATC) Group, has secured a deal with Ericsson to act as UK master distributor for the vendor’s voice, data and mobility applications for small, medium and large enterprises. ATC reckons that the deal will deliver several million pounds of additional sales for the group with ATC’s Servassure division providing ongoing maintenance on the Ericsson kit sold. Read full story

ITConcepts Switzerland has joined ECPnet, the Entuity channel partner programme. The two companies will work together to deliver business service management (BSM) solutions to the Swiss market. Entuity provides network service management solutions and is the global develop behind the Eye of the Storm (EYE) software suite. ITConcepts is the first Entuity partner in Switzerland.
