Zyxel pushes for partners in Russia

The Russian operation of network solutions vendor Zyxel has pledged its commitment to working with channel partners in 2010. Zyxel has launched its annual channel programme based on partner authorisation with the tag line ‘work together’. Partners are requested to complete an application for authorisation by the end of May 2010. The programme itself will run for a year from the start of July 2010. Read full story

OCS and Brocade run Russian workshops

Russian distributor OCS teamed up with data centre networking solutions vendor Brocade for a series of channel seminars. OCS is part of the National Computer Corporation (NCC), one of the largest diversified holding companies operating in Russia’s IT market. OCS and Brocade used the events to raise the skill levels of partners and increase technical expertise within the channel. Read full story

Avaya strengthens Saudi Arabian channel

Avaya has boosted its presence in Saudi Arabia, signing up Bright Star Communications (BSC) to its connect channel partner programme. BSC, which is part of the Baud Telecom Company (BTC), will offer a full portfolio of Avaya’s communication products and services to business in the Kingdom. BSC will operate as an independent channel partner created by BTC, which has been a Nortel partner in Saudi Arabia for three decades. Read full story

Cisco tweaks Avant Garde

Networking giant Cisco has tweaked its pan-European partner support initiative Avant Garde, to offer channel partners more assistance in the marketplace and to broaden the range of eligible resellers. Avant Garde offers resellers a suite of tools, information and incentives designed to assist with Cisco sales into end-users with less than 1,500 employees. Read full story

Track completes Cisco events in Saudi Arabia

Track Distribution Middle East, the Aptec-owned entity created from global giant Tech Data’s offloaded Middle East enterprise and components business, has completed a series of events in Saudi Arabia to promote the fact that it now holds Cisco distribution rights in the Kingdom. More than 350 resellers attended the three events held, which focused on providing partners with sales skills and training on Cisco solutions. Read full story

AEG adds UK channel manager

UPS vendor AEG Power Solutions has appointed Stuart Priest as UK channel manager. The new role is part of a series of appointments by the vendor designed to build sales of its UPS product portfolio through channel partners. In the UK market, AEG hopes to eventually sell a majority of its single-phase UPS and certain three-phase UPS models through channel partners. Read full story

HP Middle East’s imaging and printing group (IPG) has introduced its partner sales academy concept to the region. Mimecast appoints African partner

Unified e-mail management solutions provider Mimecast has appointed AdvanceNet as a solution provider for sub-Saharan Africa. Mimecast reckons that AdvanceNet is a pioneer in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) space and will open up its offering to a broader market across South, East and Central Africa. Read full story

Avaya survey shows UC confidence

An EMEA channel survey from Avaya has shown renewed optimism for the prospects of a market recovery in 2010. Some 38% of partners questioned indicated that unified communications (UC) would offer them the most opportunities in 2010, with 23% claiming that VoIP would be the hot sector for 2010. The survey included 354 Avaya partners from across EMEA. Read full story
