GITEX 2013: Channel updates

It’s that time of year again as the Middle East market gears up for GITEX month. First up is Shopper from 5-12th October, followed by Technology Week running 20-24th October. With Shopper now happening twice a year, this October’s event has lost some of its impact. Holding it on separate dates from the trade show also means less overall buzz during Technology Week. Synaxon partners with Nedis UK

Dealer group Synaxon UK has struck a partnership with consumer electronics distributor Nedis UK. The deal gives Synaxon retailers and resellers access to a range of consumer electronics and accessory brands and products from a number of vendors including Energizer, Omnimount and Camlink. Tech Data Europe on board for Microsoft devices

Distribution giant Tech Data Europe has confirmed its participation in the Microsoft devices programme. The agreement will see Tech Data push Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface RT devices to commercial channel customers. Microsoft hopes that its devices programme will encourage channel partners to resell Surface devices to business customers of all sizes. Tech Data will supply Surface products to Microsoft authorised device resellers (ADRs) across Europe. Read full story

CA survey highlights channel innovation

IT management solutions vendor CA Technologies has presented the results of its latest EMEA channel survey. The CA Technologies channel index findings show that companies in EMEA are increasingly switching their IT budgets from routine maintenance toward more innovative projects that enable revenue-generating services, according to the vendor. Insight to push Surface in Europe

Reseller giant Insight has announced its involvement in the Microsoft device programme. Insight’s European unit will resell Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface RT to commercial customers. Insight reckons it is well placed to help Microsoft grow market share for Surface.The goal of the Microsoft Devices Program is to serve customers by activating Microsoft’s channel of partners to resell its devices to organisations of all sizes, from the classroom to the boardroom.
