GTDC CEO announces retirement

The Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) has announced that its CEO, Tim Curran, is retiring from the organisation after leading its development over the past 16 years. DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) has released preliminary findings from its 2018 EMEA Consumer Tech Channel Survey. Smart Home, Gaming & Gaming Accessories, Mobile Devices and Audio (Headphones & Speakers) were identified as the product categories with the most growth potential in EMEA in 2019, according to this year’s survey. Slack Friday in notebook space claims CONTEXT

Volume sales of consumer technology on Black Friday are unlikely to increase from the same period in 2017 in most major European countries, despite intense promotional activity from retailers, according to CONTEXT, the IT market intelligence company. The firm based its predictions on analysis of distribution volumes into retailers and e-tailers, using its CONTEXT Saleswatch data to compare sales across a crucial six-week period at the start of the fourth quarter compared to a year ago. Headphone sales to hit US$21 billion in 2018

Research house Futuresource reckons that the global headphones market value will hit US$21 billion in 2018. The appeal of audio headphones continues to attract consumers, with a 4% increase in shipments forecast for 2018 and a 23% growth in retail value, according to a new industry report from Futuresource Consulting.
