Distributors boost two-way market data flow

Distribution, while well placed to provide vendor information to channels, is increasingly offering market insights back to vendors, according to the latest research from the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC). The research looks at what vendors think about distribution’s new emerging roles, which includes expanded services going forward. Vendors also mentioned they would like to see a program for increasing trust and partnership between the various channel tiers. Read full story

Acer hits highest profit in 27 quarters

Tech vendor Acer has announced that its after-tax profits for the third quarter of 2017 hit their highest level in 27 quarters. Acer posted sales of NT$60.58 billion (US$2.01 billion) for the quarter – up 13% sequentially and 3.4% year-on-year. After tax profits hit NT$1.45 billion (US$48.2m) – up more than fivefold year-on-year. Acer claimed that the results demonstrated the company’s strong business momentum, stabilising operations and renewed profitability. Read full story

Distributor registration opens for DISTREE EMEA 2018

DISTREE Events has opened distributor registration for DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2018, which takes place in Monaco from February 6-9th. TIBCO and Ingram Micro sign distribution deal

TIBCO Software, a specialist in integration, API management, and analytics, is teaming with Ingram Micro, to assist with its expanded footprint of channel partners. Ingram Micro will be a full-line distributor of TIBCO’s portfolio of solutions, pushing TIBCO products into its VAR channel. European PC gaming market climbs 23% in second quarter

Europe’s PC gaming market sales grew 23% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2017, as enthusiasts sought out high performance and premium branded systems, according to market analyst CONTEXT. Gaming monitor sales rocket

The fast-growing billion-dollar global e-sports economy drove worldwide gaming monitor sales up 175% year-on-year for the second quarter of 2017, according to the latest figures from CONTEXT, the global IT market analysis company. The rapid growth of gaming monitors was not quite enough to offset an overall 3% year-on-year decline in worldwide monitor shipments, driven by lower sales in China. Read full story

EMEA printer shipments climb

Unit shipments of printer hardware to EMEA improved in the second quarter of 2017, climbing 4% year-on-year, according to data from research house CONTEXT. While there was positive performance across the board, the increase was driven mainly by shipments of multifunction inkjet devices. Sell-in to Western Europe (WE) accounted for almost 70% of all printer hardware shipments to EMEA. Shipments of laser multifunction printers (MFPs) registered growth of 10% year-on-year and were largely responsible for the overall increase. Read full story

Arrow gets strategic with Symantec

Arrow Electronics has been named a multinational strategic distribution partner of Symantec in the EMEA region. Following the acquisition of Blue Coat by Symantec in 2016, Arrow has renewed its distribution contract with Symantec. Prior to the acquisition, Arrow had distributed the products and solutions of both companies in numerous countries. Read full story

Nuvias gets GitHub rights for EMEA

GitHub, the software development platform, has signed its first pan-EMEA distribution agreement with VAD Nuvias. The new partnership will further expand GitHub’s enterprise customer base across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and represents a commitment by Nuvias to accelerate the growth of its DevOps business.
