Azlan picks up VMware award

Tech Data’s European VAD unit Azlan has been named VMware EMEA distribution partner of the year for 2010. The award was made in recognition of Azlan’s successful cultivation of channel opportunities among the company’s mutual partners over the past year. Azlan has invested in the development of its own competencies in VMware technologies and in educating and activating reseller partners, enabling them to push virtualisation solutions to the SMB market. IDC predicts European cloud impact

Research house IDC has come up with its top ten cloud predictions for the European software market in 2011. IDC reckons that the cloud, which it defines as packaged software solutions licensed as subscriptions and delivered over the internet, will have a profound impact on software vendors, business models, security, cloud use cases as well as IT managers and directors. Cisco launches partner advisor service

Networking giant Cisco has launched a new service giving 24,000 select and registered partners access to personalised sales support. The new partner advisor gives small business and midmarket resellers immediate sales support via click-to-chat or phone. The initial rollout includes capability to offer the service to 7,000 partners in Europe. Read full story

Drobo adds e92plus as VAD partner

Storage vendor Drobo has struck a distribution deal with e92plus as it looks to grow its presence in the SMB channel. Drobo are partnering with e92plus to increase engagement with more network and data focused VARs. For resellers, it is claimed that the Drobo range fits below the cost of traditional SAN vendors but delivers a product that provides ease of use with advanced technology that enable SMBs to backup and store data securely and quickly. Ingram Micro adds Janam in Europe

Also-Actebis offers 2010 insight

Following the merger of Also and Actebis on 9th February 2011, the two companies have given some insight into their 2010 performance and the outlook for the new Also-Actebis entity in 2011. The two companies generated combined sales of US$9.16 billion in 2010 with after tax profits of US$55.4m – a margin of 0.6%. Read full story

Shareholders at European distributor Also have approved the company’s merger with Actebis. At an EGM held on 8th February 2011, the shareholders of Also approved the projected merger and agreed that the new company would be named Also-Actebis. Read full story
