Ricoh signs European deal with Nuance

Office solutions, managed document services and production printing solutions vendor Ricoh has signed a pan-European reseller deal with speech and imaging solutions specialist Nuance. Under the terms of the deal, Nuance will develop software specifically aimed at Ricoh’s customers, designed to work with the hardware vendor’s multifunction products (MFPs). Read full story

Hammer time for Mellanox

Storage distributor Hammer has added NASDAQ-quoted Mellanox Technologies to its vendor portfolio. Mallanox supplies high-performance, end-to-end connectivity solutions for data centre servers and storage systems. Hammer reckons that the Europe-wide deal bolsters its offering to new and existing channel partners. Read full story

Ingram Micro EMEA signs OtterBox

Ingram Micro EMEA has signed a pan-European distribution deal with handheld device case manufacturer OtterBox. Ingram Micro will carry the vendor’s entire line of protective solutions for handheld manufacturers and wireless carriers. PC sales growth continues

The Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) reckons that PC sales through the distribution channel showed solid year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2010. Citing data from research house Context, GTDC stated that European third quarter sales were up 22% year-on-year. Read full story

Ingram Micro EMEA has been appointed as an official distributor for the full portfolio of Blackberry smartphones, accessories, software and technical support services in nine European countries. The deal covers Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, UK and Ireland, with a specific focus on growth in the enterprise and SMB segments. Read full story

Fujitsu extends Ingram Micro deal

Infrastructure vendor Fujitsu has deepened its relationship with Ingram Micro, naming the distribution giant as a pan-European VAD partner for the SMB and midmarket. Ingram Micro will carry the entire Fujitsu dynamic infrastructures portfolio of IT products and solutions including leading Primergy servers and Eternus storage. Read full story

Also-Actebis merger delayed

The completion of the proposed merger between European distribution giants Also and Actebis has been delayed. The two companies first announced their intention to join forces in August 2010 and had planned to close the deal by the end of the year. With approval from the relevant competition authorities now expected by the week of December 6th at the earliest, Also and Actebis have pushed the expected completion date to the first quarter of 2011. Magirus bags B-Series configurator status

VAD outfit Magirus has become the first European distributor to achieve Cisco unified computing system B-Series authorised configurator (UBAC) status. This means that Magirus can tailor data centre solutions based on Cisco unified computing system B-series servers for certified Cisco authorised technology provider (ATP) resellers in less than five working days. Bompard bags top job at Fnac

Alexandre Bompard will become chairman and CEO of France-based international retail chain Fnac from the beginning of 2011. The new appointment was confirmed by François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of PPR – Fnac’s parent company. Bompard will also act as a member of PPR’s executive committee. Read full story
