ComTrade wins Macedonian PC deal
ComTrade Group, one of the largest IT companies in South East Europe, has secured a US$15m deal to supply 55,000 PCs to schools in Macedonia. The deal marks the starting point of a joint project between ComTrade and Intel, which aims to equip all schools in the region with PCs. ComTrade has also announced that its existing distribution deal with Intel has been extended to cover Croatia and Bulgaria.

Asbis picks up Kerio rights in Eastern Europe
Emerging markets distribution powerhouse Asbis has struck an agreement with Kerio covering Eastern Europe. Under the terms of the deal, Asbis will distribute Kerio’s mailserver and firewall solutions to its reseller base in the region. Asbis will also introduce channel partners to Kerio’s partner programme.

Computerlinks lands Q1 Labs deal
Q1 Labs has struck a distribution deal with IT security and internet solutions VAD Computerlinks. Under the terms of the agreement, Computerlinks is authorised to sell Q1 Labs QRadar family of network security management hardware and software solutions to its reseller partners in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Elko signs finished goods deal with Microsoft
Elko Group has struck an expanded distribution deal with software giant Microsoft. The latest agreement enables Elko to sell Microsoft finished goods including company licences, packaged retail products and special education licences. Elko’s agreement with Microsoft previously only covered OEM software alongside new PCs in the Baltics, Slovenia, Romania and Slovakia.

Samsung has launched its printer partner programme (PPP) in the UK, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. The scheme is expected to extend across the rest of Europe by 2010. The partner programme will split Samsung printer resellers into three main categories: registered, gold and premium.

Formjet flogs UK Panda business
AIM-quoted Formjet has sold its Panda Software UK franchise for US$2.29m, which includes a US$330,000 earn out. Formjet’s business model is based on picking up territorial rights for alternative software products and acting as a virtual subsidiary for the vendor. Under the terms of the deal, Panda International will now take ownership of Panda UK.

Server-based computing software vendor 2X has signed a distribution deal with Azlan – distribution giant Tech Data’s enterprise unit – covering the Spanish market. 2X reckons that the deal will allow Azlan to offer a desktop virtualisation solution to its Spanish business customers.

Extreme extends Westcon rights to Italy
Extreme Networks and Westcon Group have expanded their existing distribution agreement to cover Italy. Westcon, a networking, security and mobility focused VAD, will hold non-exclusive distribution rights for Extreme’s solutions across Italy. Westcon reckons that it can help Extreme become more profitable in the Italian market.

Samsung launches printer leasing scheme
Samsung has launched a 0% financing scheme for its business-focused printer portfolio in the UK. The offer launched with participating Samsung resellers in the UK and Ireland at the start of June. Samsung plans to roll out the initiative to more countries in Europe in the near future.
