Also drops GNT name

European distribution outfit Also has revealed its annual results for 2009. The company - comprising Also Germany, Also Switzerland and GNT’s operations in Finland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – saw sales fall 9% year-on-year to US$4.07 billion with net profits of US$13.9m. During the year Also trimmed its workforce by 11% to finish 2009 with 1,473 employees. Read full story

Comtek flies HP flag

Pan-European IT repair services outfit Comtek is not holding back in expressing its support for HP as the vendor giant eyes the networking market. Comtek reckons that HP can capitalise on anti-Cisco sentiment to form new partnerships and take on networking giant Cisco. With HP’s recent acquisition of 3Com, Cisco has understandably taken a close look at its relationship with HP and taken away the vendor’s authorised dealer status. Read full story

ATS adds Lanamark offering

VAD outfit Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS) will offer a subscription-based services platform from Lanamark to partners in the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Italy, Turkey and France. ATS reckons that the new offering will help partners expand their virtualisation offerings with continuous capacity management and optimisation services. Read full story

Avnet adds Xrio in UK

VAD outfit Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS) has struck a UK distribution deal with Xrio. Under the terms of the agreement, ATS will provide resellers with Xrio’s bonding and bandwidth optimisation technologies for enterprise customers. Xrio’s unified bandwidth management (UBM) devices and solutions will be available to VAR partners in the UK as a part of Avnet’s unified communications practice. Read full story

Zycko signs Xsigo deal in UK

VAD outfit Zycko has been appointed as a UK distributor for datacentre virtualisation solutions supplier Xsigo Systems. The two companies claim that Xsigo’s enterprise technology is an ‘essential’ in new build datacentres. Zycko will make Xsigo’s solutions available to its UK reseller base. Read full story

TD Azlan has been appointed as a Brocade distributor for Germany, Benelux, Spain, the UK and the Nordics. Alcatel-Lucent has boosted its UK distribution coverage with the appointment of Incanix as a partner.
