Magirus bags B-Series configurator status

VAD outfit Magirus has become the first European distributor to achieve Cisco unified computing system B-Series authorised configurator (UBAC) status. This means that Magirus can tailor data centre solutions based on Cisco unified computing system B-series servers for certified Cisco authorised technology provider (ATP) resellers in less than five working days. Bompard bags top job at Fnac

Alexandre Bompard will become chairman and CEO of France-based international retail chain Fnac from the beginning of 2011. The new appointment was confirmed by François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of PPR – Fnac’s parent company. Bompard will also act as a member of PPR’s executive committee. Read full story

SIOS adds Computerlinks in Benelux

SIOS Technology has struck a distribution deal with Computerlinks in the Netherlands. The deal will see Computerlinks push SIOS’ SteelEye-branded business continuity and disaster recovery solutions to resellers and integrators in the Benelux region. Azlan launches mobile apps

Q1 Labs opens new European offices

Q1 Labs has opened new offices in Southern Europe, the Nordics and Germany. The security intelligence solutions provider has announced its strongest year-to-date in Europe and reckons that its expanded presence will enable it to commit more resources to partners and customers within the region. Pan-European distributors at DISTREE XXL

DISTREE XXL 2011 has confirmed that it is on course for a record turnout of distributors from across the EMEA region. The event’s new Pan-European Distributor Programme (PDP) is attracting some of the channel’s biggest names to EMEA’s premier channel event. Ingram Micro is the latest distributor to confirm its participation, with a team of six senior executives led by European president Alain Maquet set to attend DISTREE XXL 2011 in Monaco from February 8-11th. Also reports nine month figures

European distribution giant Also has posted sales of US$3.05 billion for the first nine months of 2010 with net profits up 9% year-on-year to US$16.8m for the same period. Also now expects to post net profits for full year 2010 of between US$22.6m and US$25.7m. This projection includes non-recurring costs related to the planned merger with Actebis. Read full story

Avermedia signs TheHut.com

Digital multimedia technology vendor Avermedia has signed up UK e-tailer TheHut.com as a channel partner. Under the terms of the agreement, home entertainment e-tailer TheHut.com will sell a range of Avermedia’s PC TV solutions online. The e-tailer will carry a number of products, including an extensive range of PC TV tuners and HD video capture solutions. Read full story

Azlan upbeat on Cisco ‘try and buy’ scheme

VAD outfit Azlan has reported strong uptake of its Cisco ‘try and buy’ programme, which allows channel partners and their end user customers to evaluate Cisco rack servers for one month before committing to purchase. Azlan, which is part of distribution giant Tech Data, launched the scheme at the beginning of September. Read full story
