Devon IT signs Tdist deal

Devon IT has announced a tie-up with VAD outfit Tdist. The deal will see Tdist offer Devon IT’s range of thin client terminals and hosted desktop solutions to its VAR customer base. Devon IT claims that it is the fastest growing provider of thin clients worldwide and reckons that partnering with Tdist will allow it to increase engagement, support and education for its customers in the UK and Europe. TD Azlan supports Cisco move

European VAD outfit Azlan has welcomed networking giant Cisco’s plans to introduce channels booking neutrality (CBN) for all its partners. Put simply, the move means that Cisco account managers will now also receive credit for bookings made by tier-two partners through distribution. Previously, only tier-one bookings on sales orders above US$100,000 counted towards Cisco account managers’ targets. Read full story

DSG upbeat on interim results

Electronics and IT retail giant DSG International has released interim results for the 24 weeks ending 17 October 2009. Group sales were down 1% year-on-year at US$5.46 billion with an underlying gross margin of 0.4%. Total pre-tax losses after deducting non-underlying charges of US$9m were US$37.9m – a 58% decrease on the similar figure a year earlier. Read full story

Arrow ECS grabs Citrix accolades

Arrow ECS’ European subsidiaries picked up nine distributor awards from Citrix at the vendor’s recent distributor conference in Germany. DNS Arrow in the UK bagged four awards, DNS Group in Germany took home three prizes and Arrow ECS in Denmark was awarded two. All three companies are part of Arrow ECS, which is a business segment of Arrow Electronics. Read full story

Cisco extends financing initiative

Networking giant Cisco has extended its 0% financing offer in Europe to all products and solutions and has also doubled the maximum deal size. The Cisco CapitalSM EasyLease can now cover deals worth up to US$380,000 until the end of July 2010. Cisco reckons that its financing is a powerful tool for resellers and partners to use to drive business within Europe. Read full story

Tandberg Data signs up Microtronica

Data protection solutions player Tandberg Data has boosted its European distribution line-up. The company has signed a distribution deal with Arrow division Microtronica covering Spain, Italy, Portugal and the UK. Under the terms of the agreement, Microtronica will push Tandberg Data’s portfolio of tape drives, libraries and autoloaders across these markets. Read full story

Gartner offers European insight for third quarter

Research house Gartner has revealed that PC shipments in Western Europe fell 0.3% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2009 to 16.7m units. Despite the year-on-year drop, third quarter shipments were up 30% sequentially compared to the second quarter of 2009. Read full story

Expand Networks has appointed three new VAD partners in the UK. Cloud Distribution, CDG UK and Sematron have signed up as VADs for Expand and will assist the vendor in its aggressive reseller recruitment programme. DCC Group posts six month figures

DCC Group has announced its results for the six months ending September 2009. DCC SerCom, the company’s distribution operation, saw sales slide 4.2% year-on-year to US$997.49m with operating profits up 1.5% to US$20.54m – an operating margin of 2.1%. Read full story
