Track completes Cisco events in Saudi Arabia

Track Distribution Middle East, the Aptec-owned entity created from global giant Tech Data’s offloaded Middle East enterprise and components business, has completed a series of events in Saudi Arabia to promote the fact that it now holds Cisco distribution rights in the Kingdom. More than 350 resellers attended the three events held, which focused on providing partners with sales skills and training on Cisco solutions. Read full story

Eros extends UAE retail network

UAE-based retailer Eros has committed itself to the new Mirdif City Centre mall in Dubai. The multi-brand electronics retailer, which is part of the Eros group, has opened its 28th digital lifestyle store at Dubai’s newest retail destination. Eros reckons that its new 2,100 square foot store will benefit from the mall’s proximity to Sharjah. Read full story

Iomega boosts GCC team

Iomega has boosted its GCC team, appointing Mohammad Jweied as regional sales manager. Data protection solutions vendor Iomega, which is part of storage giant EMC, plans to enhance its position in the GCC market and become a preferred provider of network and storage solutions for consumers and SMBs across the region. Jumbo joins rivals at Mirdif mall

UAE-based consumer electronics (CE) and IT retailer Jumbo Electronics has opened a new outlet at Mirdif City Centre mall. Jumbo is one of several CE and IT retailers taking the plunge and opening a new outlet at Dubai’s latest mall development. The new store has been inaugurated by Jumbo CEO Peter McElwaine and JP Nambiar, head of retail. Also in attendance was Osamu Miura, managing director at Sony Gulf – one of Jumbo’s most important vendor suppliers. Read full story

Etisalat opens up at Mirdif mall

UAE-based telecoms operator Etisalat has opened its 38th retail outlet. The latest addition to Etisalat’s growing retail network is located at the recently opened Mirdif City Centre mall in Dubai. Etisalat claims that the outlet offers customers a broad range of landline, mobile, broadband and entertainment services. Read full story

Sandisk recognises top GCC partners

Flash memory products vendor Sandisk has handed out awards to its top performing GCC partners at a recent event in Dubai. The awards recognised channel achievements in the region for 2009 – a year where Sandisk claims to have seen 58% unit growth and 45% sales growth in the region. Attendees at the awards ceremony also heard from Steve Daverio, Sandisk VP for EMEA retail sales. Read full story

Kingston eyes Middle East potential

Memory products vendor Kingston Technology reckons that the Middle East market is set for robust growth in 2010. During a recent roundtable discussion in Dubai, Kingston revealed that its Middle East sales grew 17% in 2009 despite uncertain economic conditions. The vendor is expecting revenue and unit sales to climb further in the region in 2010. Read full story
