Track bags Cisco rights in Saudi Arabia

Track Distribution Middle East, the Aptec-owned entity created from global giant Tech Data’s offloaded Middle East enterprise and components business, has been appointed as an authorised Cisco distributor in Saudi Arabia. Track already holds Cisco distribution rights in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Read full story

Juniper confirms Redington deal

Juniper Networks has confirmed the appointment of Redington Gulf as a Middle East VAD partner. Under the terms of the deal, Redington will distribute Juniper’s entire portfolio of networking and security products across the region. The distribution deal will also cover most of Africa. Riverbed names MEA channel manager

Riverbed Technology has appointed Brian Dainton as channel account manager for the MEA region. Riverbed, which offers IT infrastructure performance solutions for networks, applications and storage, hopes that Dainton can further develop the vendor’s routes-to-market and reseller network across the region. Comdasys signs FVC distribution deal

Mobile unified communications solutions provider Comdasys has appointed FVC as a VAD partner in the Middle East and North Africa. Under the terms of the deal FVC will distribute Comdasys’ products across the region. FVC has offices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco. Read full story

‘Business as usual’ insists Aptec boss

Ali Baghdadi, CEO and president at Dubai-based Aptec Group, insists that it is ‘business as usual’ at the Middle East distributor. Baghdadi, writing on Aptec’s facebook page, plays down the impact of the Dubai World debt situation and claims that Aptec sales are up 15% year-on-year in 2009. Last year, a majority stake in Aptec was sold to DIFC Investments - an entity conceived and controlled by the Government of Dubai. Read full story

Belkin boosts MEA retail team

Networking and accessories vendor Belkin has strengthened its Middle East and Africa team, appointing Andrew Pepperell as account manager for the region. Aptec announces Symantec seminar in Kuwait

Middle East distributor Aptec will host a Symantec seminar in Kuwait on December 15th. The event will focus on Symantec’s back-up and recovery solutions for small businesses. Aptec will be joined by Symantec representatives at the seminar, which will include the announcement of new partner incentives. Attendees will also receive 10,000 Air Miles from Symantec. Avaya names El Tawil as Gulf and Pakistan boss

Roger El Tawil has been promoted to managing director for Avaya in the Gulf and Pakistan. El Tawil, who previously held the role of regional channel and marketing boss for Avaya in MENA, Turkey and Greece, will now focus on driving new and existing business in the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Pakistan. Microsoft gets tough in Kuwait

Software giant Microsoft has filed criminal complaints against two resellers in Kuwait, prompting anti-piracy raids that resulted in the confiscation of pirated software CDs and PCs loaded with fake Microsoft software. The crackdown forms part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to protect customers and ensure a level playing field for legitimate resellers, according to the vendor. Read full story

CGC hosts Nokia training in Doha
