Eros speeds up Samsung deliveries

UAE-based distribution outfit Eros Group has launched a delivery on demand service for Samsung mobile phone products to independent retail outlets. The just-in-time delivery service will see Eros Group vans carrying Samsung mobiles to independent outlets offering rapid delivery times. Read full story

MERA Foot Traffic Index hits new high

The Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) Monthly Monitor Report (MMR) for March 2010 saw a new high set for the survey’s Foot Traffic index. The MMR canvasses the opinion of 30 leading IT and consumer electronics retailers from across the Middle East. The Foot Traffic Index hit a new high of 7.00 (scored out of 10) driven in part by exceptionally high scores from UAE retailers where the average score hit 7.83 for working month March 2010. i2 launches Egyptian promotion

Mobile retail outfit i2 has whipped the covers off an upgrade promotion in Egypt in collaboration with Samsung. The promotion offers consumers the opportunity to upgrade their existing phones for a new Samsung model. The trade-in phone must be in good condition and operating efficiently to qualify for a special price for a new Samsung device. The campaign is exclusive to i2 and will run in all of the retailer’s Egyptian outlets. Read full story

Iomega strengthens Saudi sales team

Data storage solutions vendor Iomega has boosted its Middle East team, appointing Mohammed Abdul-Salam as sales manager for Saudi Arabia. In his new role Abdul-Salam will look to enhance Iomega’s presence in the Kingdom and further build the vendor’s reputation as a provider of storage and network solutions for both consumers and SMBs. Mindware boosts Intel sales in Saudi Arabia

Middle East distributor Mindware has been recognised by Intel for its sales performance in Saudi Arabia during 2009. Mindware boosted its Intel sales in the Kingdom by 20% during the year. Seema Wadhwa, components product manager at Mindware, was named best product line manager in the Middle East by Intel at the vendor’s recent distributor sales conference held in Spain. FVC adds Mirapoint rights

Middle East VAD outfit FVC has struck a distribution deal with Mirapoint. Under the terms of the deal, FVC will push Mirapoint’s enterprise e-mail appliance solutions to its reseller base across the region. Extra opens fifth Riyadh outlet

Saudi Arabian retail powerhouse Extra has opened its fifth store in Riyadh taking its total number of outlets in the Kingdom to 14. Extra, which is part of United Electronics, has ambitious expansion goals and plans to open new stores in Mecca, Yanbu plus another store in Dammam during the next six months. Extra, which sell a wide range of electronics, IT products and home appliances, reckons that it attracted some 7.5 million shoppers to its stores in 2009. Read full story
