Lalonde lands role at Obeikan

Kevin Lalonde has taken on a new role as chief strategy consultant at retailer Obeikan Bookstore in Saudi Arabia. Lalonde hopes to utilise Obeikan’s strengths as both a retailer and publisher to capitalise on recent trends in content distribution and electronics. Some 60% of Obeikan Bookstore revenues are currently related to sales of IT and electronics products. Read full story

Netgear eyes double digit growth in Saudi Arabia

Netgear reckons that it can achieve year-on-year sales growth of 10% in Saudi Arabia during 2010. The networking vendor reckons that the Kingdom’s growing SMB segment will play a pivotal role in driving sales. Saudi Arabia’s total IT market is expected to hit US$3.7 billion in 2010, according to the latest statistics from market analysts BMI. Read full story

Adaox bags Eset award

Adaox Middle East – the regional business development partner for Eset – has received a sales excellence award from the antivirus software vendor. The award recognises Adaox’s contribution to increasing Eset’s sales and market share in the Middle East during 2009. Eset sales climbed 25% in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in 2009. Avaya names emerging markets channel boss

Avaya has named Tarek Hassaniyeh as its new regional channel leader for emerging markets. Hassaniyeh takes over from Roger El Tawil, the former director of channel and marketing for Avaya in the Middle East. El Tawil now holds the position of managing director for Avaya in the Gulf and Pakistan. Read full story

Techserve bags Bose services gig

UAE after-sales service provider outfit Techserve has been named as a UAE services partner for audio manufacturer Bose. The deal paves the way for Techserve to provide installation and repair services for Bose products sold in the UAE. Techserve, which is part of the Al-Futtaim Group, also holds service partnerships with Nokia, Sony Vaio, Panasonic, Toshiba and Sanyo plus several other vendors. Read full story
