Jumia Nigeria names Anammah as new CEO

Online marketplace and e-tailer Jumia has appointed Juliet Anammah as CEO of Jumia Nigeria. Anammah is taking over from former co-CEOs Jeremy Doutte and Nicolas Martin, who are taking charge of Jumia Global across the 11 African countries in which the fast-growing e-commerce group operates. The deal encompasses most of Europe and parts of Africa. DISTREE announces 2016 calendar of events

DISTREE Events has officially announced its 2016 event calendar, with six consumer technology channel events planned around the world. The company is also launching an additional event in the Middle East region in 2016 focused on the SMB reseller channel. Ingram Micro signs NEPA deal with Microsoft

Everyone loves a good regional acronym in the IT channel. Distributor giant Ingram Micro has announced an agreement with vendor colossus Microsoft covering the North Africa, East Mediterranean and Pakistan (NEPA) region, which includes the countries of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Pakistan. With this contract, Ingram Micro is authorised to distribute the entire line of volume licensing products from Microsoft. Read full story

Storage giant Western Digital (WD) will splash out US$19 billion in cash and stock to snap up flash memory specialist Sandisk. WD claims that the deal is the next step in the transformation of WD into a storage solutions company with global scale, extensive product and technology assets, and deep expertise in non-volatile memory (NVM). Bodley named CEO at Dimension Data MEA

Technology solutions and services provider Dimension Data has announced the appointment of Grant Bodley as CEO of its Middle East & Africa (MEA) operation. Derek Wilcocks, current CEO of Dimension Data MEA, and Sean Joubert, current managing director of Dimension Data MEA will both be taking up executive positions within the global group. Mitsumi named as Intel approved supplier in Africa

Components vendor Intel has appointed regional distributor Mitsumi as an approved supplier for the African region. The engagement forms part of Intel’s market development strategy to expand its channel reach and offer channel benefits to its Intel technology provider programme members. The partnership will allow Mitsumi to increase its focus on Intel’s complete range of products via the active promotion of Intel content within devices including desktops, all-in-ones, notebooks, two-in-ones and tablets in the East and West Africa regions.
