Russian market exceeds US$40 billion

Research house GfK’s latest analysis of the ICT, telecoms and consumer electronics market in Russia indicates that the total market value grew 9.1% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2012 to hit US$12.68 billion. This took the annual market value for calendar 2012 to US$42.3 billion dollars in Russia – a 10.4% increase over 2011. Consumer electronics, telecoms products including smartphones and small domestic appliances played a significant role in driving overall market growth. Read full story

Merlion appoints Raskolova as CEO

Russian distributor Merlion has appointed Sergei Nikolaevich Raskolova as its new CEO. In his new role, Raskolova will help the channel giant develop further and meet strategic business objectives. Treolan appoints Ivannikov as CEO

Russian distributor Treolan, part of the LANIT Group, has appointed Dmitry Ivannikov as its new CEO. Ivannikov will be responsible for the strategic development of Treolan and general management of the operation. MICS ready to expand portfolio

Russian distributor MICS will look to expand its product portfolio through its participation at DISTREE EMEA, which takes place from February 19th to 22nd in Monaco. DISTREE EMEA facilitates thousands of pre-scheduled meetings between vendors and channel partners, creating hundreds of new distribution deals year after year. Elko extends Lenovo rights in Russia

Emerging markets distributor Elko has extended the portfolio of Lenovo products it sells in Russia and will now offer IdeaTab tablets and IdeaPhone smartphones to its in-country channel customer base. MTI adds Microsoft rights in Ukraine

Distributor MTI has struck a channel agreement with Microsoft in the Ukraine. The distribution deal will give MTI channel rights to push Microsoft Windows OEM client and server operating systems. The agreement marks MTI’s move into the software distribution market. MTI is hoping that it is also the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial cooperation with Microsoft. Read full story

Elko adds Hyundai tablets to Russian portfolio

Emerging markets distributor Elko has picked up exclusive wholesaler rights to push Hyundai tablets in the Russian channel. Latvia-based Elko, which operates across the Baltics, Eastern Europe and Russia, struck an exclusive agreement with Blusafir Korea – a specialised Hyundai brand licensing company. RIM teams with Asbis for Russian retail push

Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of Blackberry mobile devices, is hoping that a partnership with emerging markets distributor Asbis can help it crack the fast-growing Russian retail channel. MTI picks up Polycom rights in Ukraine

Ukrainian distributor MTI has added unified communications (UC) and collaboration solutions vendor Polycom to its portfolio. The deal expands MTI’s offering in the telepresence, audio and video communications area.
