DCC CIS pulls in 200-plus Russian retailers

Tumbleweed has appointed Rainbow Technologies as a premier distributor in Russia. Tumbleweed, which specialises in managed file transfer and e-mail security solutions, reckons that its latest channel recruit will help it tap into Russia’s technology boom. Expand opens Russian office

Expand Networks has ramped up its operation in Russia, opening an in-country office and appointing Albert Katsir as sales director in Russia. Expand, which specialises in application acceleration over the wide are network (WAN), reckons that there are significant growth opportunities within the Russian market. Kerio makes Moscow move

Internet security and messaging software vendor Kerio has opened an office in Moscow to support its rapid sales growth in Russia. The new office will service Kerio’s reseller and distribution community, which provide the channel to market for the vendor’s messaging and firewall solutions aimed at the SME market. Positronica revels in Russian retail bonanza

Positronica, the Russian retail franchising operation launched by IT distribution heavyweight Merlion, posted sales of US$197m in 2007 according to a local report. Positronica has a retail network of more than 160 shops spanning 140 Russian towns and cities offering a combined floor space of more than 25,000 square metres. Read full story

Merlion grabs Gingle rights

Russian distribution giant Merlion has struck an exclusive distribution deal with Gingle Technology to sell the vendor’s portfolio of RAM products. The products are now available to Merlion’s extensive dealer network in Russia. Under the terms of the deal, Merlion has been granted exclusive distribution rights across the entire Russian Federation and CIS countries. Read full story

Big Blue targets Russia with OpenReferent PC project

IBM has teamed up with Red Hat software distributor VDEL and Polish distributor LX Polska to develop Microsoft-free PCs loaded with open source software for the Russian market.
