Canon research highlights MENA opportunities

This is evident in the Office Insights 2016 report released by Canon which states that 63% of organisations in the MENA region see value in the ability to print remotely from a smartphone, tablet or laptop. Arrow offers VCE solutions in additional countries

Arrow Electronics is now offering converged VCE solutions in nine additional countries in Europe, and thus expands its existing distribution agreement with VCE Technology Solutions. The expansion of the contract encompasses Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the UK. Read full story

Elko named official Lenovo notebook distributor in Russia

Elko has added an important missing piece to its Lenovo distribution jigsaw in the Russia & CIS region. Elko has now been appointed as an official distributor of Lenovo notebooks in Russia. Elko already held exclusive distribution rights for Lenovo smartphones and tablets in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, and is also an official distributor of Lenovo notebooks in Ukraine. Rigby Private Equity forms Nuvias Group

Rigby Private Equity (RPE) has announced the formation of Nuvias Group, a holding company for the pan-EMEA high value distribution business being built by RPE, to redefine specialist value distribution. Wick Hill and Zycko now become part of Nuvias Group and will be known as - Wick Hill, a Nuvias group company, and Zycko, a Nuvias group company. Read full story

New robotics and innovation store to open in Dubai

Distributor Action To Action will open a robotics and innovations store in Dubai called Innovators, which will be located at Dubai Festival City. The new retail concept is dedicated to visualising the future transformation of consumer electronics retail, according to Action To Action. The store opens to the public on July 3rd, and will feature more than one hundred innovative robotics and unique brands such as EZ Robot, Wonder Workshop, DTS Robotics, Amaryllo, Quitbit, and Sen.se, among others. Tech Data UK appoints Stancliffe as HP BDM

Distributor Tech Data has continued its investment in support of HP Inc. partners, naming Nick Stancliffe as its new HP business development manager (BDM) in the UK. He joins Christian Cox and Sam Trinder on the company’s new-look HP business development team. Stancliffe was previously software BDM, a role which he’d occupied for almost half of his six years in the Tech Data Software team. His appointment follows the move of Ross Turner to Tech Data’s consumer electronics team. Read full story

Nubia signs Ronaldo as brand ambassador

Smartphone brand Nubia Technology, a business unit of ZTE, has signed global football star Cristiano Ronaldo as its brand ambassador. As part of his contract, Ronaldo will be involved in Nubia’s brand promotions and product endorsements as the company strives to enhance its international brand image. Aptec adds Acronis rights in MEA

Middle East and Africa distributor Aptec, which is part of Ingram Micro, has signed a distribution deal with Acronis, a global leader in hybrid cloud data protection solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud environments. With this agreement, Ingram Micro is now authorised to distribute Acronis to channel partners in United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and South Africa. One in two would consider sharing smart home data for cash

A worldwide survey by Intel Security has revealed that 54% of respondents would consider sharing their personal data collected from their smart home with companies in exchange for money. A whopping 70% agreed that companies should give coupons and discounts to customers in return for data about device usage, according to a survey of 9,000 global consumers sponsored by Intel Security. The survey also found that 77% of respondents believe smart homes will be as common in 2025 as smartphones are today, but 66% are also very concerned about smart home data being hacked by cybercriminals.
