Ingram Micro signed as Kaspersky Middle East training partner

Ingram Micro Training MEA, a provider of instructor-led technical training, has partnered with Kaspersky Lab as training provider for the Middle East Region. With this partnership, Ingram Micro is now authorised to provide certified training for end point solutions of Kaspersky Lab in the GCC. Exertis adds Warmup smart thermostat rights

Distributor Exertis has added Warmup’s range of smart thermostats to its UK portfolio. The thermostats can be placed anywhere in the home, communicating with a wireless receiver unit which is connected to the central heating system’s boiler, working remotely with a smartphone to provide consumers with an optimised heating solution. EMEA printer shipments climb

Unit shipments of printer hardware to EMEA improved in the second quarter of 2017, climbing 4% year-on-year, according to data from research house CONTEXT. While there was positive performance across the board, the increase was driven mainly by shipments of multifunction inkjet devices. Sell-in to Western Europe (WE) accounted for almost 70% of all printer hardware shipments to EMEA. Shipments of laser multifunction printers (MFPs) registered growth of 10% year-on-year and were largely responsible for the overall increase. Read full story

Tech Data UK becomes Fitbit distributor

Tech Data has been appointed as an official UK distributor for the full range of Fitbit activity trackers. The distributor is looking to extend the reach of the wearables to new areas of the market, including the corporate and healthcare sectors. Kingston and Marvell celebrate 6 million milestone

Kingston has announced that more than 6 million SSD units have shipped worldwide featuring Marvell controllers. The 6 million units includes both Kingston and HyperX product lines. The feat was accomplished in just over two years, as the HyperX Predator PCIe SSD in February 2015 was the company’s first SSD to ship utilising a Marvell controller. Marvell’s 88SS9293 controller provides fast, next generation SSD performance, making HyperX’s Predator PCIe SSD appealing to system builders and enthusiasts. Read full story

TrackR raises US$50m funding

Item tracking solutions vendor TrackR has secured US$50m in Series B funding led by Steve Murray at Revolution Growth, with Foundry Group, Amazon Alexa Fund, DoCoMo Capital, The Glenmede Trust, and Bespoke Strategies also joining the round. The capital will aid the company as it continues creating reliable solutions to quickly find lost items while growing its global community of users. Prior to its Series B, TrackR has raised over US$10m from Foundry Group, Resolute Ventures, IncWell Capital, Orange Fab, Amazon Alexa Fund, and prominent angel investors. Read full story

Dicker Data adds HDS rights in Australia

Distributor Dicker Data has added Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) to its portfolio in Australia. The new agreement allows resellers to capitalise on HDS’ solutions for midmarket and enterprise customers. Lightwave Link Plus achieves Apple HomeKit certification

UK-based smart home solutions provider LightwaveRF has announced that its next generation Lightwave Link Plus has been certified under Apple’s licensing scheme as a ‘Works with Apple HomeKit’ product. Russian notebook market picks up in 2017

Recent figures from market analysts ITResearch indicated a sharp increase for notebook sales in Russia in the first quarter of 2017 - up 16.9% year-on-year. The research data claimed that close to 661,000 notebooks were sold in Russia in the first quarter of 2017 with a value of RUB26.1 billion (US$459m). This meant that the average sales price (ASP) for a notebook in Russia in the first quarter of 2017 stood at US$695. Read full story
