OKI takes A3 lead in Germany

by Stuart Wilson, Wednesday 11 June 2008

OKI Printing Solutions is saying ‘danke schön’ to partners and customers in Germany after picking up top spot in the market for A3 colour printers in the first quarter of 2008, according to the numbercrunchers at IDC. OKI shipments climbed a massive 79% from the previous quarter, meaning that the vendor accounted for 34% of the total German A3 printer market in the first quarter.

Bernd Quenzer, managing director of OKI Germany and VP Central Europe, said: “These numbers clearly demonstrate that the quality and reliability of OKI Printing Solutions’ A3 colour page printers continue to be recognised by our customers. We proactively engage with them to improve their productivity, performance and communications.”

“Business users are increasingly adopting in-house colour printing to save outsourced printing costs so we meet this growing demand by providing customisable in-house business printing solutions which in turn, empower organisations to communicate more effectively and efficiently,” Quenzer added.

Western Europe is the largest A3 colour page printer market in Europe and is the second largest market worldwide, following Japan, according to OKI. The vendor’s, C8600 Series A3 colour page printer entered the channel in November 2006, followed by the C8800 Series in May 2007.

OKI is now the number two vendor overall in the A3 colour page printer segment in Western Europe as a whole, but holds top spot in six countries: Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain.
