Winsoft builds Latin American reach

by Stuart Wilson, Sunday 11 September 2011

Winsoft is looking to open up new routes-to-market at this week’s DISTREE Latin America channel development event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Winsoft has been in the software market for 26 years and provides a range of solutions for users in non-English speaking markets. Winsoft has built its reputation by globalising and distributing software for partners such as Adobe, Filemaker and more recently Serif.

Caroline Hourregue, sales director at Winsoft, said: “We have been successful for 26 years, especially in the Europe, Middle East and Asia. DISTREE Latin America is a major step forward in our expansion strategy. We are coming to Latin America with Serif’s award winning range of design and publishing software, which already has a proven sales track record in Europe.”

Winsoft will use DISTREE Latin America to meet channel partners, raise product awareness, present its channel programme and strike some business deals in the region.

“One of our objectives is to build upon partnerships with our current distributors and finalise a couple of more deals in some territories which are still under discussion,” added Hourregue. “We also aim to raise our corporate and product brand awareness in the Latin American market.”

“We have already identified great potential for our products in territories such as Mexico, Brazil and Chile,” Hourregue continued. “These countries have strong PC markets and economic growth, which obviously has a positive impact on our sales potential.”

Winsoft claims that it offers products that are better value alternatives to high-end design and publishing packages. “We bring powerful yet easy-to-use software, which makes them quite unique,” explained Hourregue. “Our range is mainly dedicated to small businesses and home PC users.”

Winsoft remains committed to the indirect channel with boxed products accounting for 97% of its sales. Winsoft’s strategy is to build and maintain a strong focus on channel support, guidance and incentives.

“We offer distributors and retailers regular and attractive channel incentives, as well as product marketing activities in order to raise and maintain a high-level of consumer awareness and demand,” added Hourregue.

“We offer a high level of margin,” continued Hourregue. “This is one of the basics of our strategy, which is very channel oriented. On top of this we have a programme called ‘WinWin’ which offers retailers a great number of benefits. Resellers can begin reaping rewards with their very first order. For every product purchase they earn points that can be converted into gifts, discount or free products, just to name a few examples.”

“We have put in place a dedicated portal for our channel, where we provide assets, templates, sell sheets, tools, training videos and more. We also have dedicated sales, marketing and technical support teams,” Hourregue added.

“We organise regular and attractive channel incentives, marketing activities and training on how to use our products, so that our distributors can sell them effectively. And of course we have a specific marketing budget that we share with our distributors so that they can promote our products,” continued Hourregue.

Winsoft has signed its first distribution contracts in Latin America this year. The plan now is to finalise distribution deals to cover all territories in the region, help distributors to develop the reseller channel and build partnerships for co-branding and co-marketing activities.

“We come to Latin America with long-term objectives. DISTREE Latin America 2011 is a milestone in our strategy and we aim to set up the right channel with the right partners with a win-win model in mind,” concluded Hourregue.
