Aptec expands Avaya team

Middle East distribution giant Aptec has boosted its in-house Avaya team with the arrival of Mohammad Mutlaq and Prince Acharya. Mutlaq – an Avaya certified specialist – will serve as a technical specialist within Aptec offering channel partners pre-sales support, proof of concepts and technical training. Acharya joins Aptec in a sales capacity and will focus on pushing Avaya’s fast-moving Quick Edition product line. Read full story

Zyxel UK launches security reseller programme

Zyxel UK has launched its security elite reseller programme by signing up distributor C-MI. Zyxel claims that the new programme will enable Zyxel to boost its channels to market and offer resellers a tailored security service for networking and communication solutions. PineApp adds Thinstore as UK reseller

PineApp has continued its UK channel expansion drive with the appointment of Thinstore as a strategic reseller. Thinstore, which operates a supplier of thin client and server-based computing technologies, will sell and support PineApp’s full range of products aimed at the SME market, including its flagship Mail-SeCure e-mail security and SeCure-SoHo. Siemon selects RWL in Ireland

Network infrastructure specialist Siemon has appointed RWL Advanced Solutions as its premier distribution partner for Ireland. Under the terms of the deal, Dublin-based RWL will now stock Siemon’s structured cabling products, including UTP and F/UTP copper systems in category 5e, 6, 6A as well as shielded category 7A TERA and the full complement of Siemon’s 10Gb/s and Gigabit fibre optic cabling solutions. Wireless IP broadband mesh networks outfit Tropos has whipped the covers off its new Troposphere partner network channel programme. Aerohive arrives in EMEA

Aerohive Networks has opened a European office and confirmed a number of distribution agreements across EMEA. Aerohive, which offers the wireless LAN access point HiveAP, has opened a UK office staffed by six sales and technical staff. Gareth Green, VP EMEA sales at Aerohive, will lead the regional team. Isemann handed HP Middle East SPO role

HP Middle East has appointed Bernhard Isemann as the company’s new solutions partner organisation (SPO) manager for the region. Isemann replaces Salim Ziade as the Middle East channel boss at HP with immediate effect. Ziade has been names as SPO director for the Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa (MEMA) region. Samsung reveals Saudi plan

Samsung’s IT division plans to boost its presence in the Middle East, with a new dedicated office in Saudi Arabia set to open by June 2008. Further expansion is also planned for Egypt and Kuwait as Samsung’s IT unit looks to boost its channel engagement model. Madhav Narayan, general manager of the IT division at Samsung Gulf Electronics confirmed the plan at this week’s Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) MEA event. Read full story
